Panda Mom Stares At Newborn Baby. But When Keepers See THIS Under Her Leg… I’m SPEECHLESS!

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love pandas. I mean, how can you not? They’re big and fuzzy, and they also typically have a very docile temperament. They’ve even been known to lower their heads and cover their faces to hide their appearance when they come across a person for the first time!

Heck, pandas are so cute that the New York Times even explored this subject and interviewed New York University psychologist Edgar E. Coons. Edgar explained that people find pandas so cute because they make us think of babies. Big eyes? Check. Snub noses? Check. Round faces? Check. It’s in our nature to respond very lovingly to these babyish looks. So what can possibly be cuter than these baby-like pandas? Actual baby pandas.

Lun Lun is a 15-year-old giant panda at Zoo Atlanta, and she gave birth to an absurdly adorable baby panda. Momma Lun Lun began licking and cuddling her newborn but only two minutes later, she surprised everyone by giving birth to a second cub!

The zoo had previously performed an ultrasound to confirm her pregnancy but they never noticed the second cub in the womb. So when the zookeepers realized that Lun Lun was having twins, they were in total disbelief! The two female twins, Mei Lun and Mei Huan, were the first panda twins born in the US since 1987.

With less than 2,000 pandas remaining in the wild, it’s important that organizations, such as Zoo Atlanta, work hard to protect these animals and help the breed before they become extinct.
