Cops Show Up To Support Grieving Teen At Prom

One of the most exciting days of one’s life is a school prom. Not only is it tons of fun and an experience to enjoy with your friends and classmates, but it’s also an opportunity to celebrate your high school years that will soon come to an end. You get a chance to gather with your graduating class and reminisce on all the good times you’ve all had together. This time is also wonderful to celebrate the future and all that it holds.

Prom is also an incredible time for family members, as they get to see their children and relatives dressed up to the nines, with a sparkle in their eye and a jolt of happiness. Parents are proud of their children, who have grown up as kind and caring adults, and moving on to another chapter in their lives, adulthood. Needless to say, a prom is one of the most memorable experiences ever.

But sometimes, things don’t always go according to plan. On special occasions, we wish we could be surrounded by everyone we absolutely adore, and when that wish cannot come true, it’s quite a sad and somber time. Many, however, try to make the most out of any bad situation — which is exactly what this 17-year-old girl, Sierra Bradway, did when she had to experience her high school prom without her father, a former police officer who had sadly passed away.

She decided that she would have her prom photographs taken beside her father’s grave at the Indianapolis’s Crown Hill Cemetery. Little did she know, that her father’s co-workers were going to be there, standing in for her dad. They had arrived with smiles on their faces and pure pride in their hearts.

“Honored to be included in Sierra’s prom,” wrote Chief Bryan Roach on Twitter. “As our beloved fallen brother #OfficerRodBradway would say, ‘have Sierra home before 9P, sir!'”

Surely, Sierra’s curfew was extended by an hour or two for the big event! But either way, her prom day turned into quite an extraordinary event that she will definitely remember forever.

Do you remember your time at your prom? How about graduation? Tell us about your experience in the comments, we’d love to hear from you!
