Fathers are important in everyone’s lives, but it takes someone special to transition from “father” to “dad”. And what better time to make this transition happen than in a form of a gift, on Christmas? Well 12-year-old Alexis did just that to make the holiday season a super special one for her family, and especially for her stepfather; she presents her stepfather with the request of adopting her and becoming formally becoming her DAD.
The little girl’s biological dad passed away when she was 5 years old, and Jeff stepped in as her stepfather 6 years ago; it’s quite clear that he has done an amazing job in bringing Alexis up in the last few years.
The video opens with her presenting Jeff with a poster board full of pictures depicting their time together. So taken by the photos and good memories, her stepfather doesn’t notice that there’s a little surprise glued right to the middle of the board; Alexis eagerly points to it to direct his attention to the main reason of why he’s being given this board.
Turns out that the 12-year-old wrote a heartwarming poem reiterating Jeff’s importance in her life and how he has touched her heart in so many ways, over the years that they’ve been a family. The big surprise though unfolds towards the end of her poem where she asks him to formally adopt her, and become her dad! Now here’s where you’ll really need a tissue to wipe those tears—an emotional Jeff chokes up after reading his daughter’s poetry and at the idea of being asked to adopt her; he quickly agrees and gives Alexis a hug as they both cry in happiness!
With everyone on board with the idea of an adoption, we think it’s safe to say that this holiday season will be a very cherished and memorable one for this family!
