Instead Of A Graduation Speech, This Teen Does THIS And Surprises Everyone!

I remember when I finally graduated high school… it was one of the biggest milestones in my life but, as I’m sure you can relate, it was also a very bittersweet moment. On one hand, I was finally moving on to the next, incredibly exciting stage of my life: college! But on the other hand, friends and acquaintances were all going our separate ways and it was time to say farewell. It certainly wasn’t easy to come to terms with this very emotional time.

But meet 18-year-old JP Wallace. JP is part of Lapeer High School’s class of 2016 and he gave his peers some closure to their high school story by doing something that they would never forget. JP got on stage and sang his very own special rendition of Lukas Graham’s hit song “7 Years.” And it was spectacular.

JP begins with 7 Years’ familiar lyrics, telling the story of his mother’s advice about making friends. But it’s not long before you realize that JP has actually changed the lyrics to speak directly to his fellow graduates. His song speaks to their time in high school, how they’ve grown and affected each other’s lives. He acknowledges that they would inevitably drift apart but he makes a promise that he will never forget the memories that they’ve made together. JP’s powerful message could be felt across the room, and you can even see tears in people’s eyes. What an incredibly touching moment!

Watch the video below and listen carefully to JP’s very thoughtful lyrics. Let us know what you think and be sure to share this beautiful video with your family and friends.
