Handcuffed Teen Sees Officer Suddenly Collapse And Manages To Save His Life.

Unfortunately, it can often appear police officers are at odds with the community. Though it’s their job “To Serve and Protect”, it may seem that the police and the people they serve are on different sides of an invisible line. Part of serving and protecting the people sometimes involves arresting criminals, which to some, can make police officers appear to be the enemy.

It’s important to remember that the police officers are, for the most part, just doing their jobs. That doesn’t mean that all cops are good and that some don’t do terrible things, but it also means that the vast majority became police officers hoping to help keep our communities safer. When all is said and done, we are all humans and we are all on the same side.

The young man in this video truly understands this concept. Jamal Rutledge was arrested on charges of violence, criminal mischief and burglary by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in Florida. He was brought into the police station in handcuffs and was waiting for the arresting officer to finish his booking paperwork. The officer, Franklin Foulks, was working at the computer and suddenly collapsed, sliding from his chair onto the ground.

Without hesitation, Jamal jumped from the seat where he was quietly waiting, briefly checked on officer Foulks and began kicking the door to the room, yelling out for help. Security camera footage showed him doing everything he could to draw attention to the room and the emergency at hand.

Other officers heard the commotion and came running. They were able to administer CPR and save Foulks’ life. Jamal quietly took his seat again. This young man and the other officers were honored for saving a life. They were all on the same side that day, and Jamal has made a vow to turn his life around.
