Every country, state, and city has a specific set of laws that should be obeyed at all times. While some of these laws are made in order to ensure safety for all, others have different reasons behind them. And whether you think a law is silly or not, as a citizen, it is imperative that we keep to the law, unless we want to be fined or sent to jail.
The difficult part about all of this is, the law doesn’t necessarily care about circumstances. You could be having a terrible day while being caught speeding or you could have been given extremely bad news which led you to forget to pay a fine. In these situations, rarely are we given a break. But sometimes, someone roots for us and completely transforms our day into an awesome day, and that is what happened to this woman.
She frantically drove her brother to Rhode Island Hospital one afternoon and parked at the first spot she could find. Later, she found out that she was given a ticket of $30 for parking in the middle of a crosswalk. What she didn’t know was, the amount of the ticket had been tripled some days later. For that reason, she had to attend a court hearing, with Judge Caprio, in order to settle the fine.
The judge listened to the woman intently and graciously decided to shave off $60 of the fine, leaving her with the first amount of $30. Then, at the last minute, he asked her about her brother. When she admitted that he was recovering but is currently in rehab, Judge Caprio decided to drop the fine and admitted that this woman definitely needed someone to cut her some slack.
