68-Year-Old Man Sings Tom Jones Rendition And Judges Call Him A Superstar

There’s a lot of great talent in the world, there’s no doubt about that. From professional acrobats to stand-up comedians, the variation of talent we have at hand is immense. But sadly, we tend to make judgments based on the age and appearance of folks before they even have a chance to showcase their skills.

Perhaps that’s what many in the audience did once 68-year-old Matt Dodd appeared on the “Ireland’s Got Talent” stage for the very first time. But, little did they know a show-stopping performance would be underway!

One of the first questions Matt was asked as he stood before the judges was what his occupation is. In response, he mentions he works at a daycare center caring for the elderly. For somebody who works such a normal everyday job, the amount of talent he is about to show off is utterly shocking!

In honor of his grandchildren who urged him to come on the show, Matt gave his performance his best shot. He chose to sing Welsh singer Tom Jones’ “I Who Have Nothing,” and boy, did he kill it on stage!

Literally five words into the song, people are already stunned by Matt’s voice. One clip in the video shows two young adult females looking at each other in awe. Judge Denise van Outen is even singing along.

At one point of the song, Denise’s jaw drops as she looks around to see others’ reactions. Behind the judges, the everyone’s faces are lit up and they are cheering like never before.

“Matthew! Matthew, where did that voice come from?” asks Judge Louis Walsh in complete astonishment. “With a voice like that, how come something hasn’t happened before now?” he continued.

“You didn’t even have to try, honestly!” exclaims Judge Michelle Visage.

“…you’re a star, you belong somewhere else,” says Judge Jason Byrne.

And of course, we already know Denise was pleased: “I think we just found a new superstar!”

Each of the judges is absolutely correct. With a powerful, beautiful voice like Matt’s, he certainly has a future of fame and fortune.

While Matt ended up getting eliminated from the show later in the season, he still put on several stunning performances in front of millions. From the first time he signed up for “Ireland’s Got Talent” to his last performance on stage, significant success has been made. For that, Matt should be incredibly proud!

You’ll love Matt’s performance! Be sure to listen to it in the video below.
