4-Year-Old Sings “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” To Sick Mom

While it’s difficult to know how much a child fully understands what cancer is, sometimes, you just have to do your best to explain it and get through each day as it comes. Kids have limited understanding, but they also have resiliency and lots and lots of hope.

McKenna is 4-years-old and her 23-year-old mom, Dianna, has stage four Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This is Dianna’s cancer-support party thrown by her family when McKenna comes out onto the dance floor to sing her mom a very special song.

Dianna was diagnosed with cancer two years’ prior on Christmas Eve. According to grandma, McKenna sings this song every day to Dianna, but today was a little more unique, and she has a much bigger audience to perform for, as she sings Martina McBride’s “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.”

This sweet little girl doesn’t hold back, full on serenading her mom front and center on the dance floor with everyone watching – and mom is seriously overwhelmed. She is overcome with McKenna’s huge outpouring of love that leaves everyone in tears. Her sweet song was filled with kind words and emotion: “When you’re weak, I’ll be strong/When you let go, I’ll hold on/When you need to cry, I swear/That I’ll be there to dry your eyes.” This tune couldn’t be more appropriate for what the family is going through. McKenna put on a sweet and adorable show that really meant the world to her mother and anyone else with a family going through the same thing.
