Meghan Markle Attends Event And Commits “Royal Faux Pas” That Has Everyone Talking

Not every little girl, but many little girls have dreamed of growing up to one day become a princess. Personally, I blame Disney fairytales and the likes of Cinderella, Ariel, Aurora, and Elsa for girls hoping to one day find their Prince Charming and spend the rest of their lives as pampered royalty. Even though those princesses definitely endured some difficult trials and tribulations, they eventually found their ‘happily ever after.’

Watching those Disney movies makes things other than royal life look like the hard part, and it appears that just being a princess is a great life, with a few limitations, of course. The “Princess Diaries” offers a slightly more realistic portrayal, as one young girl has to work incredibly hard and make a lot of personal changes to be accepted into royal life. In truth, though there is plenty of luxury and glamour, being a princess is not always the dream come true that we think it is.

In a way, when Megan Markle married Prince Harry, she did find her happily ever after. However, I’m not sure how much of that had to do with becoming a princess, but more to do with marrying the man she was in love with. The two seem to share a loving relationship and have lots of things in common, but I doubt that Megan could completely ignore the fact that marrying Harry would make her a member of the British Royal Family.

As it turns out, becoming a princess is not all that it’s cracked up to be. In addition to the lack of privacy, a busy schedule, hounding and criticism by the press, and crazy expectations, there are a lot of ‘rules’ that the Royals have to follow.

Some of the rules include no PDA (public display of affection) between couples in public, especially when traveling; no autographs or selfies; no eating shellfish or wearing fur; and, an incredibly long list of dress codes and general protocol that must be adhered to all times. I imagine keeping up with all the rules and not ever breaking one takes time and practice.

Recently, newly minted princess Meghan made a faux pas that had Royal watchers raising their eyebrows. One rule of protocol states that women of Royal status should never cross their legs at the knee and instead, employ something called the ‘Duchess Slant.’ This prevents photographers from taking inappropriate photos. But, at a recent Westminster Abbey service, Duchess Meghan crossed her legs at the knee!

Now, you may think this is something silly, but rules are rules, after all. But, many support the new Duchess as she finds her way in a new and intimidating world, and I happen to think she’s doing just fine.

Watch the faux pas in the video below and tell us what you think!
