That is why you need these ten microwave hacks that’ll save you a lot of time and energy in the kitchen and turn mediocre tasks into quick and easy ones. Goodness knows, we could all use a helping hand every now and again.

If you’re fed up of teary eyes when preparing onions, annoyingness when it comes to peeling, or even impatience while waiting for veggies to boil – these hacks for for you. Not to mention an awesome breakfast hack that’ll allow you to prepare a tasty morning meal in one minute (no lies!). Here’s a sneak peak into some of the hacks you’ll learn about in the video below.

1. Crystallised Honey? No Problem!

Fun fact! Honey has an eternal shelf-life, which means – you could store it in your pantry for years on end! But if you find that your honey has gone into a crystallised state, you can get it back to its liquid form by removing the lid and placing it in the microwave on 50% power for two minutes.

2. Cutting Onion… Minus The Tears

Onions add flavour and great texture to many meals, but cutting them is an absolute drag. If you trim the ends of an onion and heat it on full power for 30 seconds, you’ve got yourself a tear-free onion cutting experience.

3. Forget Boiling, Steam Your Veggies With Ease

By piercing the skin of potatoes, tomatoes, and squash with a fork or knife, you’re removing the risk of it exploding by allowing trapped steam to escape while in the microwave.

4. Peeling Made Easy

Garlic cloves are admittedly rather tricky to peel. But if you place them in the microwave for 15 seconds, you’re getting rid of the moisture trapped between the skin, thus making it easier to peel.

5. Poached Eggs, A Delicious Breakfast Prepared In One Minute

Throw some boiling water into a microwavable bowl, and then add a dash of vinegar and an egg. Lightly pierce the yolk with a toothpick then place cling wrap over the bowl. Microwave it for 30 seconds on full power before removing the bowl. Gently turn the egg over and cook for an additional 20 seconds on full power.
