Talented Woman Sings “Landslide” On “The Voice”

“The Voice” is a show with many rounds including auditions, playoffs, knockouts, and finally, the live shows. It’s obvious that a lot goes into passing each one of these rounds, and judges have to make some very tough decisions as the show progresses. But, it’s all a part of the job and the show!

The performance down below is during the third stage, the Knockout Round. During this round, two people from the same team are to perform individually, and the one who makes it to the next round is chosen by who the judge of that particular team likes best.

The young woman performing is 23-year-old Chloe Kohanski. She was on Miley Cyrus’ team. Let me tell you now, she didn’t win this round. (Although, she did make it through to the next one. More on that in a bit.) But, let’s talk about the performance, first.

The woman chose to cover a classic Stevie Nick song, “Landslide,” and it was filled with raw emotion that had the judges’ jaws dropped. The song starts, and Chloe sings the first lyrics, “I took my love, I took it down,” in her deep and husky tone. Right away, coach Blake Shelton says, “Whoa!” Miley replies, “She’s insane!” She continues to sing, drawing everyone in, and coach Jennifer Hudson is completely enamored, and it’s clear by the look on her face 30 seconds into the routine.

When the singer says, “Well, I’ve been afraid of changing,” she sounds emotional, and it draws you in all the way. Her rich tone during the verse, the second time around, makes the audience cheer, and people start to clap to the beat of the song. It’s then that Chloe can’t contain the smile on her face. Once the song ends, the audience is on their feet, clapping and screaming for her.

At the end of the performance, it was time for Miley to choose a winner. After a dramatic silence, the pop singer chose the other young woman, and Chloe was to go home.

Only, she didn’t. Why? Well, on “The Voice,” judges have one chance to steal someone if they don’t get chosen by the contestant. Both Blake and Jennifer decided to steal Chloe, so now it was up to her to make the final call. Who will she choose to be her new coach? The talented singer went with her heart and chose Blake Shelton. She was in the next round!

That night, Chloe broke a “Voice” record. Her “Landslide” performance hit number 14 on the iTunes chart, the biggest hit of season 13. Then, it stayed on the Top 25 on the iTunes singles chart for two weeks, a feat never accomplished before.
