Inmates Break Into Car To Rescue Baby Trapped Inside

I’ve locked my keys in my car in the past. It’s happened to me on a work day when I have locked my keys inside and all I had on me was my cellphone (thankfully—I needed to call for help!). My purse, laptop bag, and keys were sitting on the passenger seat and I had to call a locksmith to help me get my stuff out. Needless to say, I panicked a little bit. I was worried, that for some reason, I wouldn’t be able to get my stuff out (it happens, right?).

Now, imagine going through the same situation but it’s not your purse, wallet, cellphone, or any other belonging that you locked inside; it’s your 1-year-old child. Hopefully, you haven’t been in a daunting situation like this one, but if it’s someone who can give you an account of how that feels, it’s a father from Florida; he went through this ordeal last week Thursday.

This dad was returning from the local courthouse and had strapped his baby into the car seat in the back. He then went on to shut the door, not knowing that he left his keys inside. The man and his wife then called the police to help. They let the authorities know that they couldn’t afford to pay for a locksmith so they needed help in any way possible. Sheriff deputies did respond to the call, but the baby’s parents had already decided that they were going to break the window to get to their child. This is when things take an interesting turn.

A group of work-release inmates was in the vicinity. The men came over to see if there was anything they can do to help the struggling parents. They understood the situation and offered to break into the car to help them get to their child. When the parents gave the guys the go-ahead, five inmates dressed in black and white broke into the car through the front door, in a matter of minutes.

People who were watching the scene unfold then cheered and there was a sigh of relief as the parents were reunited with their child; the 1-year-old was not hurt.

This is an unusual situation in which the deputy would have given permission for inmates to break into a car, otherwise, something like this would never be possible. They are definitely the unlikely heroes of the day.
