Mom Applauds Gym Teacher After He Helps Little Girl Put Her Hair In A Ponytail

I think everyone can agree that gym was the most fun class in school. As children, it was a great way to channel our energy into some physical activity and keep moving to stay fit and active. It was also a great time to learn some new sports and pick up various skills—gym was where I actually picked up my love for basketball.

I remember never wanting to play sports that involved hand-eye coordination. For some reason, I could never hit the baseball with the bat, never score a goal in soccer, and 2 points in a basketball game were just way too difficult. I had the stamina and defensive skills, but my offense was weak. But, this changed when I got the help of some of my amazing phys-ed teachers.

The moment I realized that I liked playing sports, I knew I had to work on my hand-eye coordination, and what better way than to have some great coaches help you out? I got the support of a couple of my favorite gym teachers to help me learn the skills I needed to finally score a basket—even a home run! A good teacher is all you really need, trust me!

And, if there’s someone else who can vouch for what I’m saying then it’s little Kristen. This little kindergartner has a wonderful gym teacher and one of his heartwarming acts was recently caught on camera.

34-year-old Jonathan Oliver is the father of 3 kids and the physical education teacher at WG Nunn Elementary School. The other day, Jonathan’s assistant teacher, Kandice Anderson, recorded the moment that Jonathan was helping Kristen do her ponytail during class. Jonathan stopped what they were doing to help the little girl with her hair, and that was the most heartwarming thing that Kandice had seen in a while.

But, talking about the incident, Jonathan couldn’t understand why he was getting so much attention: “It was shocking to me that it got that much attention because we ALL do it. We want to make them feel like they’re at home and that they enjoy being here. We try to love them as much as possible. To me, it was just a ponytail,” he told Good Morning America.

Kristen’s mom saw it as a beautiful gesture to help her daughter: “I always know that Kristen is in very good hands with him.”
