Dog Sings When Woman Plays Piano

I had a cat who I could have full-on conversations with. She and I would meow back and forth for minutes at a time. She would usually initiate, but I would carry on with her. There’d be little meows and big meows. Some were drawn out while others were staccato. Nonchalant meows would be interspersed between deliberate and firm meows. Our conversations could sometimes become quite heated.

But she never sang. Nope, she was not a singing cat. Just a chatty one. I wish she sang! Oh, how wonderfully weird that would have been. That’s why 59-year-old Pam from Ohio brought her three-year-old golden retriever, Oscar, onto “America’s Got Talent” because apparently, this dog can in fact sing.

It’s like a story out of a children’s book. Who would have thought that a dog could sing? Dogs don’t sing! Birds do! Humans do! The kettle on my stove does! Well, Pam sure got a shock when she discovered that Oscar could actually carry a tune.

Oscar is a normal dog. He likes to play fetch, go for walks, and run around the park. This unique discovery wasn’t made until Pam started taking piano lessons and Oscar began to reveal his hidden talent. He’d always hang around, and it was when Pam started to be able to actually produce songs, rather than just hammering away at chords and scales, that he’d start to sing along! Actually howling alongside her, singing on key and in tune to the music she was playing.

And so when Pam and Oscar walked across the “America’s Got Talent” stage together, the judges were keen to know what they had in store. “Oscar has a very unique talent. He can sing when I play the piano… he can hold a note, he can even do a vibrato…” The judges are skeptical, but it is what Simon has always wanted to see. “I don’t want to expect too much, but I’m not kidding. I’ve done this show a long time and I always said if we could find a dog that could sing, that would mean everything to me.” So, does Simon get what he’s always wanted on the show? You bet! And, you gotta see it to believe it!
