11 Camera Hacks To Take Photos Like The Pros

Fancy yourself a bit of a photography pro by now? There are still some super interesting and easy hacks heading your way, so don’t go off on your next adventure with your camera just yet. By the end of these hacks however, you’ll be pining to get out there and take some awesome photographs!

7. Create vintage-style images

Even though technology is continuously surprising us with photography equipment that’ll bring better focus and sharper images, sometimes it’s fun to recreate images as they looked back in the day. And you can do this easily by applying a dab of Vaseline on the lens.

8. DIY Tripod

Yes, a beanbag doesn’t have three legs on which to stand (negating the term ‘tripod’)  but it does give the same effect as if you were using a tripod and that’s essentially a win, no? A cheap beanbag will give your camera height while giving it the ability to keep still.

9. Make your own bokeh shapes

When a camera is out of focus, you often see those little patterns in an image. While many think this is done by error, it is actually an awesome photography tool—and one that can be done super easily.

Simply cut a piece of black paper so that it is long enough to wrap around your lens and secure it with tape. Then trace the circle that you’ve created and cut it out—this is the piece that will go over your lens. Use a hole puncher or a Xacto knife to create cool shapes. Place the circles over the lens, set your aperture as open as it possibly can go and practice your skills by photographing light (for example, fairy or christmas lights). If you place your finger in front of the lens, it’ll focus on your finger—when you remove your finger, you’re left with a crazy cool photo.
