One of the most notable trends for houses in the past 20 years has been popcorn ceilings. Also known as cottage cheese ceiling, this type of ceiling is actually a stucco ceiling. By spraying or painting on bits of texture to ceilings it became possible to mask imperfections and made the whole process a lot easier.
Originally, popcorn ceiling was made using asbestos fibers. Yes, that asbestos… the one that was banned because it poses serious health risks. Asbestos was banned but if you have a popcorn ceiling that was applied through the 1980s, it could very well still contain some asbestos. Since the ban, new formulations for stucco ceilings used much safer paper or Styrofoam product.
Like most people, I was never a fan of this stucco ceiling trend. Luckily for me, stucco ceilings have now become unfashionable. Unfortunately, most homes (including mine) still have popcorn ceilings and its not very easy to get rid of. Luckily, this invention fixes this issue! By using this machine you can easily get rid of your popcorn ceilings! Mind you its still recommended that you get a professional to help you with it, but the task will be much easier!
