We all love a little bit of humor—let’s admit it, a good joke goes a long way on a bad day. Am I right? With that said, it’s always a pleasant surprise to read a funny billboard while driving down the road, or surprisingly seeing a good joke in the bus shelter while waiting to start your commute one morning. Believe it or not, but it’s not just signs and billboards though that get humorous, because many restaurants and gas stations are picking up the idea as well.
El Arroyo is a renowned Tex-Mex restaurant in Austin, Texas, and has a fine reputation of making customers and passers-by always chuckle. How, you ask? They change their signs outside their restaurant, on a daily basis, and add funny sayings or jokes to the board to get a chuckle out of everyone.
Although they are the last restaurant in the city before a whole bunch of yoga studios start popping up everywhere along the road, they feel that they get their appeal more from the signs than their food. The owners themselves admit that the sign is, “kind of a big deal” and so they keep changing it to make it attract as much attention as possible.
They’re seen so much popularity with their funny, satirical, and quirky messages that they have their own Instagram page with 34,000 followers. Now that’s something to be proud about!
