There’s A Secret Island In The Bahamas And It’s Been Invaded. It’s Fantastic!

I love traveling to the Bahamas. Who doesn’t? White sand and crystal clear water… there’s nothing quite like a relaxing beach vacation. Just lazying about, working on your tan, enjoying cold drinks, and swimming with the aquatic life. But have you ever heard of Big Major Cay in Exuma? It’s uninhabited. Sort of… [googlead]

Big Major Cay is known to locals as Pig Island!

The pigs love hanging out on the beach and cooling off in the water…

And they love visitors! Especially the ones that bring them food.

They live very happily with the other island residents.

They have to be the luckiest pigs on Earth!

And if you still don’t believe this is real, here’s a video…

It’s not entirely clear how the pigs ended up on the island. One story is that the pigs were brought to the island by sailers who wanted to leave them there as a future source of food. The sailers never came back and the pigs were able to survive because neighbouring islands protect them from tropical storms and passing ships regularly threw out extra food into the nearby water. Accordingly, if they see a yacht, the pigs will swim over to greet it, in hopes of receiving more food. And with faces like that, how can anyone say no?
