Small Dog Hops On Golden Retriever’s Back To Get Treats From Her Owner

It seems like our pets will do everything for treats. Dogs will whimper, and cats will meow loudly. If that’s not enough, they then give us those adorable, googly eyes, just hoping we’ll feel remorse and finally give them a tasty snack. Anyone who has given their pet at least one treat in their life knows how crazy they get the second they hear a bag crinkle or the sound of the can opener.

From my own experience, I can’t step one foot into the kitchen without at least one of my cats racing towards the treat bowl. The more I resist, the more they try to sit perfectly in place. As frustrating as it might be for our furry friends, it’s hard enough on us as well. I mean, how can anyone stand to say a stern “no” to their pet with a face like that?!

19-year-old Adriana Burkhart shared with the Internet the silly way her 2-year-old dog, Bella, gets treats. The Michigan State University student brings her pup Bella over to her family’s house where she loves to visit the household’s four dogs. And, well, with four other dogs, let’s just say little Bella gets missed sometimes.

It’s clear that Bella learned over time that being little sometimes has is disadvantages, especially when surrounded by larger dogs. So, to ensure she doesn’t get left out, and that she gets more treats than rest of the canines in the house, Bella has a unique technique. In several photographs, which can be viewed in the video at the end of this article, the tiny pup is seen sitting on top of Hank the golden retriever’s head. That’s one way to get more attention!

Poor Hank’s eyes are tightly shut as Bella’s itty bitty feet are smashing down on its lids. Yet, the reliable retriever stays put. Hank sure has to have patience and understanding to get along with Bella while she’s attempting to steal the limelight.

Don’t worry, Bella, it looks like your tactic worked! Using Hank as a ladder has not only helped get the attention of her owner but has also helped get the attention of thousands of people on the Internet. It turns out that using someone else as a step stool is a great way to get what you want!

In fact, Bella has gotten so used to gaining height from Hank that she now regularly hitches rides on his back. Fortunately, Hank still doesn’t mind.

“I go home all the time, and the moment Bella walks through the door, [she] and Hank go CRAZY. They just hang out all day, which in turn means she rides him around the house,” Adrianna tells Buzzfeed News.

Bella sure knows how to find solutions to her biggest doggy problems.

“Whenever we’re making food, she uses Hank to get a better vantage point so she can be closer to the counter. She’s got a pretty good puppy dog eye, so they both end up getting treats whenever that happens.”
