But it’s also true that we’re able to achieve great things when people work together and encourage one another to be the best that they can be. That is why the video below is so heartwarming. It surrounds Steve Harvey, the comedian and TV host (among other things), and his rise to stardom. Of course, many people know of Harvey, but few know the struggles he faced and the way in which he gained celebrity status. This video not only reveals this, but also shows you a magical moment between Harvey and the couple who helped him reach success and stardom.
While growing up, Harvey admits to not having very much. Regardless, he worked tirelessly in an attempt to make it big in the world of comedy, accumulating thousands of dollars of debt in the process. But at the age of 26, his luck surely turned around.
He met an older couple named Rich and Becky Liss, who took Harvey in, paid off all of his debt and gave him a home that he truly deserved. He talks about the experience by saying, “I was 26 years old and I didn’t have nothin’. And these people owned a furniture store in Cleveland. And they took me in and gave me my first contract with my little carpet cleaning company.”
Then, on his birthday, he received a surprise call on-air from the Liss’s which left him speechless and in tears. Not only did they have a spine-chilling conversation, but Harvey did something truly wonderful in order to repay the couple for their priceless gift. Truth be told, it all gets very emotional.
