School Official Tells Foster Student That She’ll Be Adopted

I’m a pretty animated person. I tend to talk with my hands a lot and knock over drinks on tables or hit someone by accident. I can’t help that I get really into conversations! I’ve been known to laugh a lot, jump up in the middle of a restaurant, and stand on a bench in the park to help illustrate my point – and that’s on any given day! I could be talking about the weather or just going through the mundane events of my morning!

Now, if I received the kind of news this little girl got to hear, I’d act like her, that’s for sure. I believe it’s what you would call, “happiness through the roof!”

Tannah Butterfield is 11-years-old and has been in the foster care system for years, along with her younger brother and sister, Teigan and Tally. All she’s ever wanted is a forever home and forever family where she can have roots and grow. Tannah and her siblings were taken in temporarily by her foster parents Jennifer and Jeff Fisher. When the couple realized they couldn’t conceive after having their two biological children, they decided to take in the three orphans two years ago, with the intention of adopting them when the timing was right.

But, there were a lot of hoops to jump through. With lots of visits to the court, they fought nonstop to officially adopt all three kids – they eventually won! The parents asked school official Jackie Alexander to relay the good news to Tannah.

It’s a really touching moment when Jackie tells the young girl her new fate. She lovingly puts her hands on the little girl’s shoulders and says, “Baby, have you heard the news? Everything went great today in court, and good news, you get your forever family!” And Tannah quite literally jumps for joy.

Unknowingly, the adorable moment Jackie tells Tannah was all caught on camera, and it’s exploded online, reaching over 3 million views! “I felt like a million, jillion things just exploded in my heart,” Tannah says. “I felt so happy. This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me.”

I can’t blame her for being ecstatic. Every child deserves a family and these three children just got the biggest gift of their lives today, a forever home and parents to call their own. It couldn’t have been a better start to their little happily ever after.
