Guy With Tough Appearance Sings Surprisingly Charming Rendition Of “I Can’t Make You Love Me”

We all form first impressions of people. In fact, scientists found that we form these first impressions in less than a tenth of a second after looking at someone’s face! The impressions we form are important because they help us quickly decide if the person we’re looking at is someone we can trust and won’t pose danger to us.

But first impressions aren’t 100% accurate. Sometimes, we perceive someone to be a certain way, only to find out that they’re quite the opposite once we actually get to know them. Atlanta, Georgia-based musical artist, Jaten Dimsdale “Teddy Swims,” is one of those people who we might get an incorrect first impression of. Swims may have a massive beard and face tattoos, but he has the voice of an angel!

The singer-songwriter released a cover of “I Can’t Make You Love Me” September 17, 2019, completely blowing away the YouTube community.

The big and burly man might look a bit intimidating, but his vocals to the song are nonetheless soothing and delicate, despite his raspy voice, and he hits all the high notes with incredible power.

It’s apparent throughout the video that he has a lot of passion for what he does. By the way he tightly closes his eyes while he’s singing to his frequent hand gestures, the song definitely has him in his feels.

“There’s sweat in my eyes; I’m not really cryin’. It looks like it though, don’t it?” Swims joked at the end of his rendition.

But Swims doesn’t need to put up a front. It’s totally okay to have a tough appearance and a big heart at the same time!

“There are no categories, no stereotypes. Until we see every person as an individual, we will never reach unity,” he said.

Although many are surprised by his voice upon hearing it for the first time, people would certainly agree with Swims’s previous statement.

“Wow. Wasn’t expect that voice out of that beard. Amazing. Didn’t know this song could be any more heart wrenching, but he’s done it. Extraordinary update of a classic,” one listener admits.

“How is it his voice can be delicate and husky at the same time? It’s like a super relaxing deep meditation breath took flight in song and wrapped around me with warmth,” said another fan who admired both sides of the singer.

You’ll be swept off your feet when you hear Swims’s voice below! His singing is nothing like what you’d expect based on his physical appearance.

If you end up enjoying the cover, subscribe to Teddy Swims on YouTube, and perhaps cop some of his awesome merch, so he and his band can buy a van!
