Your routine has nothing to do with her. I think you should definitely seek counseling with a professional though. It seems her insecurities run deep and maybe don’t have anything to do with you
Do what you think is right for the children and don’t worry about what the adults think. When the kids turn 18 let them decide what to do with the money you have saved for them. People are just crazy.
You are definitely a jerk.. if you have a favorite child then don’t let the other child know… (don’t have a favorite.. it’s sick. Please get help.)
