NTJ! You didn't know what happened with Jane until after the fact; you yourself was trying to be careful with divulging news of your own pregnancy given your family history. If anything, Jane would've found you sympathetic to her miscarriage had she not decided to report you to HR. And while her friends on Jane's team meant well, they're really helping her in being punitive against anyone whose happiness trumps her grief. What if a visitor to the floor coming to see a patient approaches Jane's desk to ask a question and the visitor is obviously pregnant? Or a doctor or another medical personnel or staff? (This is not to beat up on Jane; this is to help her get help. I'm pretty sure that the hospital has support groups that deal with pregnancy loss. She can also take advantage of personal mental health counseling.)
NTJ. You were were within your rights as a manager on-duty to deal with issues like this. Your job was to see to the safety of not only your guests, but that of your employees. So housekeeping sees a person sitting on the interior stairwell; they don't know the person's intentions, so they alerted the management (you). Now, for all of those bleeding hearts who think dude on the steps was being targeted unfairly as a POC, are y'all aware that people DO get assaulted in stairwells like these? And as far as waiting for a Lyft or some other ride, people generally wait in their hotel room prior to checkout before the ride's arrival, or in the lobby after checkout. And if they get bumped, resulting in a longer wait time? They can still wait in the lobby, just let the front desk know why (they are very understanding)!
