She needs space to be herself.
I resented having to call my step-monster Mom. She got pregnant by my dad knowing he was married. She would alternate between wanting me to call her Mom and her first name, depending on if she liked me at the moment. Extra fact: my mom was long out of the picture. My dad was married to my first step mom (wonderful woman that I always called Mommy/Mom) when he cheated.
HIPAA does apply to educators as they have health information about students.
