Red Flag!! This man has some serious insecurity problems if he felt like he had to erase your role in buying your shared home so he could impress his family & friends with lies. Without knowing how long you've been married, I'd be concerned there's some other major falsehoods in his background if he would concoct this big of a lie and diminish his own wife in front of his friends and relatives.
Wait, let's go back to the beginning. Someone (likely an adult) in your household left a plastic plate in the oven and YOU got in trouble for not checking the oven before you turned it on? In 50+ years of living I can't remember ever having to check an oven because a family member or roommate might have put plastic inside.
Step-dad sounds super-creepy and aggressive to have been obsessing on this for 7 years and expecting you to pay for a household appliance that someone else (him, perhaps?) "ruined" by putting a plastic dish in it.
