Disabled Vet Walks By Homeless Man And Hears His Story

When we start to consider problems that plague our society, like homelessness, they can seem too large to conquer. We all know that these are issues that need our help and attention, but we may not even know where to start. Unfortunately, that prevents many people from helping even though they would like to do something.

Often, the best way to be a positive force for large problems is to start small, in our communities. Even the smallest efforts can make a large impact. Just a little bit of positivity can spread, and before you know it, one tiny gesture can lead to a much bigger, long-term change.

Kyle Cornwell is a military vet himself, and one brief encounter turned into a much larger effort to assist homeless vets in his own community in California. On the way home from dinner one evening, he passed a homeless man wearing a Vietnam Vet cap, cold and shivering. But, something made Kyle turn around. He gave the man his own coat and took a few minutes to listen to the fellow vet’s story.

“He started crying,” Kyle told Fox News. “And I just sat with him for like 10 minutes and talked to him and got his story.”

This single kind gesture started Kyle on a quest to make a difference for all of the vets in his community. So far, he has helped more than 50 vets. He scours secondhand and thrift stores to find items for the homeless and then delivers them himself. He has also started a GoFundMe so that he can make a difference on a larger scale. Even his young daughter is helping out and recently donated all of the money in her piggy bank to help feed the homeless.

Please like and share this story of kindness and consider helping out in your own community!
