People Buzz About Their Victorious Revenge Story

Sometimes we plan to do something, and it just doesn't work out or even flops altogether. So, when and if things do end up being a big success, this is something to celebrate. This is true whether it be graduating from college, landing your dream job, buying your first place, and so on. Even getting to successfully take out a plan of revenge can be a celebration in itself. Nobody said getting revenge was easy, after all. If anything, it's one of the most difficult things to emotionally and physically execute. However, these people got revenge quite effortlessly, and in the end, it turned out to be an achievement to remember.

19. AITJ For Making The Radio Station Deal With A Bunch Of False Contest Winners?

You’ll regret not having done something sooner.

“This story takes place 15 -18 years ago. I’d moved to a new state (I’m in the U.S.) and shortly after decided that it was time for a new cellphone, new cellphone company, and a new “local” cellphone number (back then, in the “olden days,” you had to get a new number when you switched providers).

This new number was what I used on my resume and job applications, I’d given it to all of my family and friends, and associated it with all of my personal accounts such as bills, medical, and banking.

On to the story. (All names, locations, prizes, etc. have been changed.) Skip ahead about 2 months.

Early one Monday morning, I’m awakened by my cellphone ringing. It was from out of state and a number that I didn’t recognize. When I answered, the woman on the other end asked if she’d reached “the contest hotline” and if she was Caller Number X. I politely told her that she had gotten the wrong number, hung up, and thought no more of it.

I went back to sleep. A few minutes later, the phone rang again. It was from a different number from a different state with a man asking if he was Caller Number X. Again, I explained he had the wrong number.

Now, this went on repeatedly for 90 minutes, from 6:30 a.m.

until 8:00 a.m. (that good old morning commute time of day). That first morning, I had gotten around 25-30 calls all of which were from different cities and states across the country. I had answered each and every one of them, begrudgingly, and mostly because I couldn’t be sure that the call was not a call that I needed to answer as I had many resumes out to various public-school systems, community colleges, and universities.

This was more than a little annoying and definitely inconvenient for me, but mistakes happen. I’m a forgiving person. I figured my number must be a number off from some contest that some business or charity in my area must be running and that it was a one-time thing. I thought I had confirmed that when I didn’t get a wrong number call all day Tuesday.

However .

. . Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m., the calls started again. Skips Thursday. Then Friday . . .

At that point, I decided to call my cellphone provider to see about changing my phone number. Yeah, that was like passing gas in a closed-in space – it stunk and left a bad taste in my mouth.

According to the misogynistic jerk I spoke to, the 20+ wrong number calls per day were nothing more than a “minor inconvenience” for me (even though each answered call meant that I was being charged minutes against my 750 minutes per month phone plan – I told you, this was the olden days and before unlimited calling was affordable), I was being “overly sensitive” (yep, I’m female), and since I had just taken on a 2-year contract with them, it would cost me an arm, a leg, and my first-born to change my number.

His reasoning behind the hairy mammoth amount he quoted me to do this was that I would be voiding my 2-year contract 22 months early and would have to pay off the remainder of the original contract as well as the additional fee for changing the number. (Side Note: I found out later that this was not true and had I pulled a “Karen” and spoken to his supervisor, I could’ve had the number changed for around 50 bucks, but you wouldn’t have this story to read.)

Anyway, I put up with wrong number calls for another week until that Friday.

I’d had enough and decided to get to the bottom of it. I answered my ringing phone. The woman stammered and asked if this was the contest hotline. I said that it wasn’t but was curious as to know what number she was trying to call. She apologized and explained. She’d been calling the local West Coast number for Radio Station, a VERY large, VERY well-known, and VERY Fortune-500 radio station on the Upper East Coast.

They were running a contest where if you were Caller Number X (the number changed every 30 minutes on each contest day) then you would receive a prize (such as premiere movie tickets, theatre tickets, football tickets, etc.) and your name would be entered into their drawing for a grand prize for something like an all-expense paid weekend to some desirable tourist destination.

I thanked the woman for the information and immediately got on the computer to find this radio station to talk to them about how my cellphone number (or ANY cellphone number) was inadvertently associated with their station and contest.

I found the number and called using my partner’s phone since my phone continued to ring. The conversations below are not exact, but the gist of it is there.

Receptionist: Radio Station. This is Receptionist speaking.

Me: Hi, Receptionist. I need to speak with someone about how to stop calls to your radio station from being routed to my cellphone.

Receptionist: I’m sorry, but we don’t route calls to cellphones.

Me: I’m sure you don’t deliberately route them, but I am getting dozens of phone calls 3 days a week that is supposed to be going to your contest line.

Receptionist: Oh! Let me get our Marketing Department on the line for you.

They are in charge of the contest.

Ten minutes later, MarketingGuy is on the line and telling me that there is no way I’m getting phone calls meant for their station. I must be making it up in order to sue the God of All Radio Stations for an easy buck and how he wasn’t going to let that happen.

Me: Listen to this MarketingGuy –

I answer my ringing cellphone and place the call on speaker putting the receiver close so that MarketingGuy can hear the conversation.

Me: Hello?

Woman: Oh, hi.

Is this the contest line? Am I Caller Number X? Please say yes!

Me: I’m sorry, but you have the wrong number.

Woman: Wrong number? I’m sure I dialed the number correctly. Is this 555-xxx-xxxx?

Me: No, ma’am. My number is 123-xxx-xxxx.

Woman: But the number I’m looking at on my phone right now says I called 555-xxx-xxxx.

Me: Yes, ma’am.

I’m sorry, but somehow you got me instead.

I hang up and go back to MarketingGuy, who is a little more contrite, but still not willing to do anything about it.

MarketingGuy: Look, we’re a massive radio station, and our phone system and the rollover numbers are just as massive. It would take us thousands of man-hours and thousands of dollars to chase down one phone number that was input incorrectly into our rollover system.

It’d just be easier for you to change your phone number or ignore the calls until the contest is over in a couple of months.

For those who don’t know what a rollover system is, I’ll give you my understanding, which really isn’t much. Let’s say this station had one phone number but 200 lines (each with its own unique phone number).

You call the number but there are 300 people calling that same number at the same time. Instead of getting a busy signal when you call, your call “rolls over” or calls Line 2. If Line 2 is busy, it rolls over and calls Line 3 and so on until it comes to a line that is available.

If all 200 are busy, only then do you get a busy signal. This rollover takes place in a matter of nanoseconds without the caller ever being aware. So, where the station here was concerned, they have hundreds of phone numbers throughout the country and thousands of rollover numbers. It would have been time-consuming and expensive for them to track down my number in their rollover system and remove it and replace it with the correct number (also, they would’ve had to figure out what number was missing from their system in the first place).

Me: So basically, what you are telling me is that I have to foot the bill that I can’t afford for a blunder that you made because this massive billion-dollar company is too cheap to fix it.

MarketingGuy (dripping condescension): Listen, Sweetheart, there’s simply nothing I can do.

First of all, there was plenty that he could have done.

I had already considered my options and thought that I would just turn off my phone from 6:30 – 8:00 three days a week and wait until they ended this horrid contest. It was the cheapest and most logical solution. BUT, second of all, I really, REALLY hate being called “Sweetheart”.

Cue the revenge.

The following Monday, every single person who called the contest line and was routed to me (about 30 that day) was greeted with: “Hi! You have reached the Contest Line! Congratulations! You are a winner, and as a special thank you, we will be doubling your prize!” I pretended to take down all their pertinent information such as name, address, and phone number.

I told them that they had to claim their prizes by calling this number (I gave them the Receptionist’s number) and asking to speak to MarketingGuy in the Marketing Department. BUT they had to call MarketingGuy within the next 30 minutes and to keep calling until they reached him – no one else – or they would forfeit all the prizes.

I repeated this on Wednesday to another 20-30 “winners”.

Friday, however, was blissfully silent. Not one contest line call!

I don’t know what happened with the radio station and their contest, but I can only guess and smile as I imagine them having to give out 120 prizes for those two days instead of the 6 they had intended.

I’m amazed at how fast old MarketingGuy went from, “There’s simply nothing I can do” to getting it done in 4 days or less when he was the one answering 30 wrong number calls. I’ll bet he didn’t call me “sweetheart” either.

I paid a hefty price for going over my 750-minute call limit, but I never had another redirected rollover call again.”

18. AITJ For Making My Ex Come Home To An Empty Apartment?

Empty just like your heart.

“This was years ago.

So, I was with this guy from the end of junior year of high school. We moved into an apartment together after graduation. I started college. Got a couple of jobs. He got a job. Things were ok for a while. But then, gradually, my stuff started coming up missing.

A piece of jewelry here, some DVDs there. Money from my purse would disappear. He started coming up short for rent or bills, and I’d cover it, while he griped about never getting paid on time. So, I picked up extra shifts at work and basically never slept between constantly working and trying to study for my classes.

I kept asking him what was up. I begged him to just tell me, and whatever it was, we could solve it together. I cried and groveled, just for the truth.

It all came to a head in a three-day period. First, I pulled the drawer under the bed out, going after my ferret, who liked to hide in there and nest in my hoodies.

She jumped over the back of the drawer, and I had to pull it all the way out to get her. Except when I did, I found an old-style metal lunch box duct-taped under the mattress. Inside, a couple of tiny pills, some powder… Well, that’s where all the funds were going, I guess.

Next, I went to my bank to take out some cash for gas and a few groceries, and it was overdraft.

I got very angry. I called him, and he denied it. So I made an appointment with the branch manager to look at the tape of who withdrew that cash because I knew it wasn’t me, and my card was still in my wallet. Yup. His dumb mug. I thanked the manager and left.

Finally, I get a call from one of my friends. She wanted to know if it was ok to sleep with my man. Apparently, he’d been telling her we were in an open relationship. That was it for me. I broke.

So, I took his dirty lunch box, snapped some polaroids of it, packed it neatly in a box, and FedExed it to his mother.

Then, I went to his job. I left a letter for his boss including those photos and explaining that it concerned me, the ex being allowed to operate heavy machinery all messed up. Said it’d be a real shame to get sued or lose his business. I told my friend that if she wanted my trash (the ex), I was done with it, and she could pick it up wherever.

Then I went back to the apartment.

While mentally thanking the ex for insisting his name, not mine was on the lease, I started calling friends of ours and explaining. They were unhappy and very willing to help. I had that entire apartment packed up and moved out before he got home from work that third day.

I took everything. Every dish, pot, and pan. Every towel, piece of bedding, and area rug. Every piece of furniture. I took every roll of toilet paper, the shower curtain, the mini blinds. I took it all. I’d bought it anyway, so it was technically mine to take. I left him with a milk crate, and whatever clothing I hadn’t purchased.

The stuff I’d bought him, I shredded. I put it all in storage. I went to campus to print a few things. Then I went back to the apartment to wait.

He came back and found me sitting in that dark, empty apartment (I took the light bulbs) on that lone milk crate.

I stood up and told him that I knew everything. And that obviously, I was done. I handed him the stack of information I’d printed on different rehab facilities in the area with one of the polaroids I’d taken clipped neatly to the front. I told him I’d made sure he had nothing left to lose, nobody left to lie to, and that I hope I accelerated him reaching rock bottom, so maybe he’d get some help.

I left him with the sticky note I’d written his intake appointment on and the phone number of the contact person there. I drove away watching him slowly sink to his knees in the middle of the road.

Follow up: it’s been some years since then. He reached out to me not long ago to thank me.

Evidently, he did go get help when I left him no choice. He’s a lineman now. With a family, a beautiful home, and a dog. He’s doing well for himself. I don’t regret any of it. Never have.”

You probably did it out of anger and spite (fully understandable, I won’t even go into some of the things that crossed my mind when I found my ex two-timing) but that was a full blessing in disguise.” Stabbmaster

17. AITJ For Spraying A Cranky Man With Water?

“Back in the ’80s, before water-saving measures, my parent’s house had fairly high water pressure coming out of the tap. (After water-saving measures were emplaced, they still had sufficient pressure.) I was 9 or 10 at the time. We had dogs, but they didn’t poop in the front yard. We were the house on the corner.

We had multiple outside spigots; one of which was in the wall facing the front yard.

Because we were on the corner, we seemed to be the target of people letting their dogs poop in our yard and not clean it up. I did not find this acceptable. So I started asking people to pick up after their dogs when I saw them letting the dog poop in our yard.

Most either picked up their dog’s poop or possibly let their dog poop in someone else’s yard.

One man took offense to a kid asking him to pick up his dog’s poop and told me he shouldn’t have to. I told him actually he should as it’s his dog, therefore his responsibility, and it was the law.

(It was a city ordinance which I knew at the time because we had a few LEOs in our neighborhood that frequently pointed it out when I took my dogs for a walk. I later learned independently that there was in fact a city ordinance.) He got mad and started telling me that children aren’t allowed to speak to adults that way – blah, blah, blah.

He was an adult, and I was a skinny kid, so I turned around and went inside, plotting a way to get him to stop. Dog poop is actually not good to use as fertilizer. My mother and I were trying to grow wildflowers in the front yard, so I was determined to make Poop Man stop.

Well, after some thought, I remembered that when we moved in a year or so prior, there was a sprinkler system set up to run off the front yard spigot.

There was also some sort of flow control valve that would shunt all water to that spigot when turned a certain way to run the sprinkler system to the whole yard, so the whole yard could be watered at once. My dad had disconnected the sprinkler system from that spigot and set up a system off a spigot in the back to water the backyard.

We had put in a lot of drought-resistant plants in the back yard and the front yard was small. We watered the front yard with a hose with a gentle spray attachment.

We had multiple hoses and attachments. My dad had a nozzle that would spray a hard stream. With some experimentation, I found that the short hose with the hard stream nozzle attached to the front spigot with the shunt turned on produced a very hard stream, kinda like a power washer.

I set the hose up with the nozzle and left it in the ready position.

One of our dogs barked at every dog that walked by but it was usually a short “woof woof” and he’d go back to whatever. With some dogs and people though, he barked when they approached and until they were off of his “territory.” We joked that he just didn’t like those people or dogs.

It really was not many people or dogs, so when he did his, “I don’t like your bark,” we paid attention. Poop Man was one of the people he didn’t like.

The next time Poop Man approached, I ran out, turned the shunt on, and picked up the hose, waiting around the corner of the house out of sight.

My dog barking by the side fence let me know Poop Man and his dog were in the front yard. I peeked around the corner and Poop Man was turned, so I stepped onto the yard with the hose, aimed at his back, and turned the nozzle on.

His screaming was glorious to my young ears.

He turned around enraged and started yelling at me, demanding I stop.

I just kept spraying him. He demanded to know why I didn’t stop but I did not speak, just sprayed.

A neighbor, Bob (not his real name) heard the screaming and yelling and came over. Bob was friendly to everyone but looked very imposing. Us neighborhood kids would make up stories about his “secret life,” ranging from mob enforcer to special forces to assassin; you get the idea.

He just looked like a guy you don’t mess with. But he was on pretty good terms with everyone on the street, and Poop Man did not live on our street. Bob approached me and asked what on earth I was doing while eyeing Poop Man. Who was still getting sprayed.

Poop Man had gone quiet as Bob approached but started protesting when I was asked what I was doing. Bob held up his hand in a stop gesture at Poop Man, who promptly shut up. Bob asked me to stop spraying and I turned off the nozzle. I told Bob that I had asked Poop Man to not let his dog poop on my lawn and pick up after it, but he refused and told me that children were not allowed to speak to adults that way, so I found a way to ask him to stop without saying anything.

Bob started busting up laughing, which displeased Poop Man who asked what Bob was going to do about me. Bob turned to him and said, “I’m going to tell you to stay off her lawn and pick up after your dog” and stared at him until Poop Man stopped sputtering and walked away.

I never saw Poop Man or his dog again, and very rarely found any errant dog poop on the lawn again.

I never found out what Bob did for a living, though.”

“NTJ. I love this solution but for those who don’t have resources:

My mom had a neighbor who always brought her dog over to poop on Mom’s lawn.

When asked not to do that, the neighbor was sarcastic and dismissive. So my mom waited until one day she caught a fresh poop on the lawn, scooped it up, and flung it against the neighbor’s front door, where it adhered nicely. Problem solved.

My husband did something similar involving a neighbor’s windshield. 100% effective as well.” JohnExcrement

16. AITJ For Nagging My Insurance Until They Approved My Claim?

“Some years ago, I tore my knee up real good; in fact, it’s still not good. But it’s better. I wasn’t worried, though. I had a good job, with good health insurance. I went to my doctor, and my doctor sent me to a specialist who told me I needed surgery.

We coordinated everything with my insurance company. My insurance company approved the surgery, costs, etc. – all golden, right?

Well, a few weeks after my surgery, I get a bill from my anesthesiologist. Turns out, a week or so before my surgery, his agreement with my insurance company expired, and he didn’t renew it or something.

What does this mean for me?

It meant that he didn’t get paid his fee, and that fee apparently was $4,000. So I call my insurance company, and I explain, “Hey you didn’t pay my anesthesiologist. You approved the surgery; you need to pay him,” and they opened up a case.

About a week later, I get told, “your anesthesiologist is out of network; therefore, his cost is not covered by us,” so I call up my anesthesiologist to try and see if they will waive the cost.

Turns out, they won’t. They did offer me a discount if I paid cash. I told them no.

So, I called my insurance company up, and I told them they need to pay my anesthesiologist. They said they already made a decision, and they won’t. Now I know for a fact those insurance companies have a customer relation software, and they track my calls, they put in notes on what was said, and they also record my calls.

So I told the rep on the phone that I am going to call every single day until they change their mind. He said he’s sorry, but there’s nothing he can do.

9 calls later, a rep sees how many times I’ve called. She goes, “You’ve been calling every single day?” I go, “Yea,” and she goes, “That takes a lot of time doesn’t it?” I go, “I’m on disability; I got nothing but time.” She said she understands, but unfortunately, they still aren’t going to pay my anesthesiologist.

(My theory is there was a disagreement between my anesthesiologist and my insurance company, and I was caught in the middle.)

Cue 4 days later, 4 more phone calls.

A rep asks me how many times I’m going to keep calling. I tell them I’m going to keep calling until I get the answer I want.

Honestly, by this point, it had become a joke among my friends. I would sit at home, smoke, watch my daytime TV talk shows as I left my phone on speaker as I was waiting to get through to a rep.

I had unlimited minutes with my phone plan.

7 more business days, 7 more calls. I finally get a rep who notices my log history and comments that he’s never seen anyone call this much over the same issue and get denied every single time. He said he’s going to refer me to a higher level to try and resolve my issue (this wouldn’t have been the first time it happened).

3 days later, I’m about to make my 3rd call when my phone rings; it’s a higher-level manager who deals with special claims.

And he gives them this speech about how due to contractual obligations, they are unable to pay my anesthesiologist. I ask him, “How much of your employees’ time do you think has been spent telling me no?”

He pauses for a moment and goes, “Well, you’ve been calling us every day for several weeks.”

I go “Yes, and how much of your employee time do you think has been spent telling me no?”

He goes “What’s your point?”

I go “Your company has probably spent more money telling me no, then it would have cost them had they just paid my anesthesiologist.”

To which he responds that that’s, unfortunately, the way it is, and he has very little power to change it.

To which I said, “That’s fine.

I’m going keep on calling every single day and putting in a new case, every single day,” to which he said, “That’s not going change anything,” to which I said, “Again, that’s fine; I’m going to keep calling.”

Well, I keep calling, 5 more days. When I get another call from my insurance company.

It’s the same gentleman who told me no. Honestly, by this point, the reps I was calling were REALLY, REALLY familiar with me. One rep even commented that he’s never seen as many calls logged in such a short period of time.

“After further consideration, we have decided that we will authorize the payment to the anesthesiologist,” to which I asked, “And when will he get his payment?” to which they said, “A couple of business days,” to which I said, “That’s fine.

I’m going call him and confirm he got his payment,” to which the guy laughed and said, “I’m sure you will.”‘

15. AITJ For Making My Teacher Feel Like A Fool?

“My 7th grade English teacher hated me, but I made her think she was a fool for two weeks. So, in 7th grade, I missed a lot of school due to medical and mental issues. That being said, all of my teachers were understanding… Except one. We’ll call her Ms. Bitter (MB), my 7th grade English teacher.

The school gave all students a test to see what reading level they are on, what book ranges they can read, and how many points one would need to get to pass English. They would tell you to check out books and each book had a point system on it. This was the number of points you receive after finishing the book and then taking a 10 question quiz to make sure you read it.

I always scored 12+ so I could read anything I wanted.

Well, every English class was required to allow students 30 minutes to read their accelerated reading (AR) books.
They HAD to be AR books specifically. If it had no points, you couldn’t read it during that time block. They were also required to take the class to the library once a week to check out new books or take quizzes.

Being sick and absent so much, I didn’t get to go to the library often. So, I was always having to go to the library before or after school to do my stuff. I didn’t have the best home life, so it was hard for me to go early or stay later.

Well, many times I went to class, I either didn’t have a book or I had a book, but it wasn’t an AR book.

MB would go around and check every freaking book every day to make sure we were doing what we were supposed to. If you didn’t have it, she’d give you a warning… 3 warnings and you get detention.

Needless to say, this happened to me. I was furious because MB literally had a bookshelf full of AR books in her class that no one was allowed to read if we forgot our book or didn’t have it because of reasons, like me. MB chastised me in front of the class and even scolded me for being absent too much.

She made me cry more than once.

(Note: I don’t understand two things – 1. Why she hated me and 2. Why she wouldn’t let anyone use her god-forsaken books on her bookshelf. Your guess is as good as mine.)

After months of this, I decided to be petty because I was sick of her picking on me.

At this point, she basically just expected me to not have my approved book. So, I went into her room one morning while she wasn’t there, she had bus duty, and wrote down about 5-10 AR books on her personal bookshelf that she wouldn’t let us use (again, still not sure why).

Then I hid them behind all the other books. After that, I went to the library during that precious hour lunch period to start my revenge. I checked out about 4 or 5 copies of the books on that shelf. I couldn’t check out any more than that.

The next day, I come in and we get to the point of silent reading.

Here we go. I pull out one of the books I had “duplicated” and began to read. MB starts making her rounds to check the books. I was sitting there hoping so badly that she would do what I thought she’d do. She gets to me, I don’t look at her and I can see in my peripheral vision she is looking very hard at my book.

Silently, I observed her walking directly over to her bookshelf and begin to look for, what I assume, was the book she thought I took so I wouldn’t get in trouble again. I could see the anger in her face when she couldn’t find it.

MB walks over to me, fast, and with her everlasting need to torture and embarrass me, she grabs my book, pretty forcibly and starts accusing me of taking a book without permission and that I would be getting another warning and detention for ‘stealing from her.’ I just sat there calmly letting her finish.

Then I said, ‘MB, that book is from the library. Not your bookshelf. You are mistaken.; She disagrees again and starts to head to her desk for the write-up. I turn and I say, ‘Would you please look on the inside? It clearly shows that it belongs to the library with the checkout list and everything.

Has my name right on it.’

She did, thinking she would get me for lying too.

Well, I saw her face get bright red and slowly comes over to give it back. She didn’t apologize or anything. In fact, I think it made her hate me more.

I was vindicated, but this wasn’t enough for me.

Day after day, I’d bring another duplicate book, and each time she would stomp over to her shelf, not finding her copy, looking at me fury. Each time, I’d show her the library stamp when she’d approach to accuse me again. This went on for about 2 weeks. I honestly think I made her feel foolish and SO irritated that she couldn’t pin anything on me.

I also came in again one day, in the morning, and put all her books back in place as if they were there all along.

I got my AR points by just reading the duplicate books and passed with an A. I still don’t know why she hated me so much, but for about two weeks, I enjoyed watching her crumble every day and not being able to punish me for anything. Not the most elaborate of petty revenge, but I loved it.”

14. AITJ For Feeding My Brother Cat Food?

“This happened a few years ago when my brother was living at my place for a short period of time. We’re both adults and should know the rule of “don’t steal other’s food.” Well, I know this rule. My brother, however, does not.

He’s never had a solid meal routine. Instead of eating 3 meals a day, he eats periodically throughout the day.

When he moved in, I told him firmly that he was not to eat any of my food and only eat his own, which he agreed to. The first few days went fine, but after a week, I started to notice certain things disappearing, and I had to do more shopping than usual.

I asked him if he’d been taking my food, but he was adamant that he wasn’t.

I knew better than this. Since a very early age, I’ve been able to tell if my brother is lying (which in this case, he was), but I’ve never pulled him up on this, so he doesn’t know I can pick a lie.

Bring on the petty revenge.

The next time I went shopping for groceries, I purchased cooking chocolate, wasabi, canned tuna, and canned tuna cat food.

The next day after he left for work, I began to plot my revenge.

I soaked the cans in the sink for 10 minutes to get the labels off and swapped the labels on the cans.

(So, the canned cat food now had tuna labels, and the cans with the tuna labels now contained cat food.) I placed the cans back in the cupboard. I have a cat, so the cans of cat food weren’t out of place.

Then I put a layer of melted chocolate into cake molds and let them set.

I then coated the insides with a very generous coat of wasabi and sealed them with more chocolate.

The chocolates/wasabi creations I made were small enough to put the whole thing in your mouth at one go, and I made sure to make enough that 1 or 2 wouldn’t be noticeable, setting the trap perfectly for my brother.

All I had to do was wait.

When my brother got home later that day, I “casually” went into my room to wait. And right on cue, I heard the cupboards opening and closing and cans being opened. Brilliant.

About 10 minutes later, I heard the fridge open. GOT YA!!

20 seconds later, I heard my brother screaming and yelling, “AAAARRRRRHHH!!!! What the FLIP?!!!! OMG, WHAT IS THIS??!!! WHAT THE HECK DID YOU DO???!!! WHAT IS THIS!!??????”

I came out of my bedroom with the biggest smile on my face.

“What’s wrong?” (faking concern)

BRO: (pointing at the plate on the table with the chocolates on it) “What the heck is this??? Are you trying to bloody kill me?”

ME: “Why were you eating my food? I thought you said you weren’t eating my food.”

Silence, followed by him muttering something under his breath as he walked to his room and slammed the door.

I had a look in the bin, and sure enough, there were empty cans of tuna in there.

I yelled to my brother through his door: “How was the cat food?”

Bro: “The what?”

ME: “The cans of tuna in the cupboard are cat food. I hope you liked it.”

BRO: “WHAT???!!! Why would you do that? That could kill me! What’s wrong with you!!!???????”

He never ate my food again.”

“Heh…

“This could kill me.”

Cat and dog food… It’s actually perfectly safe for human consumption.

Ironically, it’s actually often better than the trash we humans eat.

Is it actually revenge if the meal was better than what he thought it was? NTJ.” emily_the_brave

13. AITJ For Baiting My Coworker Into Eating "Special Chocolates"?

It turns out, people don’t like to have their food stolen. Who knew?

“At my one of old jobs, there used to be a serious problem with a food thief. Yogurt, sandwiches, candy, ramen cups, you name it. Nobody could get a handle on it because no one wanted to admit their culpability, and the manager/HR were basically powerless, short of installing a video camera in the common area, which pretty much all employees didn’t agree to out of privacy concern.

One day after the theft of a particularly looked-forward-to lunch item, one of my coworkers (let’s call her F) had a seriously dastardly idea. F’s partner worked at a confectionery, and she would often come in with beautiful chocolates, cake, etc., which in many cases were the victims of the burger burglar, as on this particular day.

I’m not exaggerating when I say F’s dude was like the Michelangelo of candy; he could make sweets bend to his will. So, she asks her man if he could make some “special chocolates” for work the next day.

Anyway, without discussing this plan with any of us, F comes to work with a small box of these delicately wrapped, delicious-looking chocolates and leaves them in the common area with a label “DO NOT EAT: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!” Labels of property were common and were commonly ignored, so the assumption here was that the lasagna looter would read the label and disregard it anyway while all the normal people would heed such a warning.

Lo and behold, 11:30 AM or so rolls around (slightly before when most people eat lunch, suspected time of the food thief’s covert activities), and from out of the break room, we hear a rising groan followed by intense retching noises.

Of course, we were all super curious/concerned, so we go investigate only to find the guilty pizza pilferer doubled over the sink desperately trying to flush out their mouth. Their eyes were watering, and they dry heaved in between mouthfuls of water.

See, said “special chocolates” appeared at first glance to be perfectly normal Belgian truffles, but upon biting into them, one is faced with a thick inner core of globby, viciously potent licorice; like, it made my eyes water to smell.

My mom, who eats Swedish salted licorice like it’s nothing, even said that she thought the chocolate was utterly inedible when I brought her one to try. The outer layer of the licorice was gummy and solid, and the inner layer had a small bit of pure liquid licorice extract that absolutely coats the mouth and is hard to wash out, like after you use mouthwash and can’t get the taste to go away.

So when the brunch bandit bit into the chocolate, the inner core immediately jammed up their mouth and delivered the payload of impossibly bitter extract like some sort of herbal atom bomb straight to the jaw.

The manager and even HR got involved due to the casserole criminal screaming bloody murder about the situation, but conveniently enough, nobody could seem to remember who had brought the chocolates in that day.

Luckily, the licorice was just benign enough to not cause any serious culpability issues, but the food thief complained literally the entire day about the lingering awful taste, appealing to our collective schadenfreude. So after sending out an all-employee notice about food safety and allergies (obviously, spiking food like that has “potential lawsuit” written all over it), the soup swindler got a stern talking to about their, shall we say, dietary habits, and just like that, the pernicious swiping stopped basically overnight. Although we all knew it had been F’s doing, it became a running joke to refer to that incident as the “unsolved case” of the workplace.”

12. AITJ For Getting An Angry Caller's Service Cancelled?

“Around 15 years back, I worked for a contract company that did tech support for one of the most hated ISPs in the US. This job made me learn a huge amount of empathy and kindness for tech support reps as you quickly realize how little power you have. If your internet is not working, generally, tech support cannot do much other than making sure you’ve paid up, do step-by-step troubleshooting (you can find similar from a quick Google search), or dispatch an on-site tech.

We had no power to toggle the internet on or off or any of the other stupid things people thought.

Late one evening shift, I get handed a call from a heavily accented gentleman who is on the edge of anger, but he’s keeping it in check. His internet is out and he can’t access his emails.

Okay, no payment flags on his account, so we proceed to troubleshoot. As we go through the steps (turn off, turn on), his anger is slipping. He gets more and more belligerent, and by the end of our scripted steps, he’s just angry. I offer to try a few other things to see if we can get something to work, but nothing is working.

At this point, we need to send a tech out to his home to do readings, assess the modem, etc. Residential techs can take up to 2 weeks to get an appointment, and I tell the customer this. BOOM, switch flipped, and this guy loses it.

I will mention that I try to be understanding.

As someone who lives on the internet, a service interruption followed by a 2-week wait would anger me too. However, I understand that the poor wage slave on the line is not in control of the internet and does not have a magic wand to make it all okay. Threatening them is not going to help.

Evidence, me.

This guy starts in on me. I suck, I’ve wasted his time, I’m out to get him. Then, he starts getting flustered trying to think of what he’s going to do. Call the police, heck ya. Sue me personally, HECK YEAH. After all, he can’t reach his patients. Hello, what’s this? I was actually trying to deescalate, when I asked him, “Uhh, what patients?” Turns out, he’s a VeRy ImPoRtAnT doctor who runs his whole practice (a business), through his residential (not for business) internet service.

For those of you who don’t read the entirety of your Terms of Service agreements (snore), using a residential line to run a business is a violation.

If this guy had been a little more patient and less abusive, he would’ve shortly found out that I could have a tech to him the next day, early morning.

Less than 24 hours of waiting. Instead, I got my section manager involved and got this guy’s service canceled for TOS violations and verbally abusing tech support. He wasn’t banned, but there was a note attached to his ID to refuse residential service, and only offer commercial. This means he’d have to return his equipment, pay another connection fee, and wait a guaranteed 2 weeks to be reconnected. Oh, and at triple the monthly price too.”

11. AITJ For Recommending Another Mechanic For The Job My Work Partner Wanted?

“So, I work maintenance in a smaller college. It’s actually a pretty sweet gig with some good people. This story is, however, not about the good ones, but rather the jerk of a partner I’m now stuck with, Gary.

Now Gary and I weren’t always at odds. When he first started out as a part-timer, he was great.

We got on well and worked together well for the first year. Gary is an older fellow, around 64 or so, and working a couple of part-time jobs with, to the best of my knowledge, minimal savings for retirement. He doesn’t have any qualifications on paper; however, he is pretty good with engines and machinery.

He’s also pretty knowledgeable in regards to the old building we’re constantly repairing. When my boss at the time asked if I could use some full-time help, I figured I’d do Gary a solid and told him that I could (even though it was fine as is). Gary gets the position sometime in early August, and all is fine.

I had to take a few weeks off at the end of August/start of September for personal reasons, which is, honestly, a pretty bad time to be taking off because school is starting, and all the staff is coming back with their laundry list of things they need to have done.

I knew this was going to be the case, so I busted my chops getting everything as far ahead as possible and wrapping up any projects we had on the go before leaving, so he only really had to deal with smaller items.

After my holidays were up, and I got back into the routine at work, I started to notice that he wasn’t overly friendly with me anymore.

I also started to see items around campus not really getting repaired to the degree expected of us. Little things at first like coat hooks getting mounted crooked, showing up a few minutes late, repair items getting put off, snow removal not being done properly, and just shoveling it to the bottom of a wheelchair ramp blocking off access to it.

I would go around and fix up the stuff he’d mess up just to avoid any conflict figuring he had some stuff going on. Eventually, he started lying about the progress of projects he was assigned to handle. Guess who would need to go in there and sort it out?

This went on for a year and a half; eventually, all this led to a blowout between him and me, and my new boss did sweet care all about it.

The last straw was when I walked past his computer in our shared office space (he would set the font size to 28 or so when typing) and noticed my name in an email he was sending himself listing off all the ways I had “messed up” the last couple days “dishonest nDJwmusic is at it again…

dishonest nDJwmusic messed up this and that,” listing small items that had yet to be addressed or things I went and fixed up after him.

I had enough. As a unionized workplace, it’s difficult to get rid of someone after their probation is over, but we also have certain allowances for personal equipment that we are entitled to.

I stopped reminding him about the $150 a year we get for boots, the money available for glasses, even the 3 pairs of work pants, and 5 sets of workshirts allowed each year. Petty? Yes, but that’s about $850 he’s missed out on each year for the past two years, and I’ll be damned if I remind him about it this year.

The icing on the cake? He’d been wanting to scoop up a part-time teaching position that was opening up earlier this month, 16 hours a week at around $85-$95 an hour for the next 2 months.

I put forward a name of a mechanic I know, and it wasn’t him. Mr. B is enjoying his extra income from the part-time gig, and Gary is out of luck. I figure his laziness ended up costing him around $12,000 so far, and I’ll make sure that number keeps climbing because I can hold a grudge like no tomorrow when I’ve been screwed around enough.

Don’t make me mad and try to screw me over after I went out of my way to help you.”

Make sure you document – with dates (and possibly times) – all the things you’ve had to fix for him or finish for him or etc. You may need that as a CYA later if he tries to use this email he’s creating against you. You might also briefly mention it to your boss.

10. AITJ For Ratting Out A Work-Stealing Jerk?

“For a while, I worked as a web designer in a small ad agency serving a very niche industry. Previously, the design team had no creative lead and were all sort of operating independently across varying clients. We decided to hire a creative director to fill that gap, and I was given the task of sorting through and giving first-round interviews to find the person who would later become my supervisor.

Two candidates, in particular, stood out from the rest for very different reasons. One was exceptionally talented, an all-around nice guy, and somebody who generally would have been great for the role. The other, let’s call him John, had mediocre talent, came across as an insufferable, arrogant jerk but had previous experience working within the niche industry that we serviced.

He also had contacts within that industry that could lead to new business. Despite my strong recommendation to not hire John, his relationships in the industry were too compelling to our agency’s leadership to pass up, and they hired him.

It didn’t take long before the entire company started to realize John was a huge burden.

He had nearly zero experience in anything related to digital design. Design for apps, websites, mobile, etc., were all completely and utterly beyond his grasp, but he used his position of relative power to make decisions on those projects that the entire design team refused to support, most of which came back to bite the company in the butt later.

The design team hated him because fixing and working around his screw-ups became part of our daily routine. The sales team hated him because he’d claim it took him unbelievably exaggerated amounts of time to complete even the most trivial of tasks (ex: 4 days to design a business card template), so they wouldn’t even assign him projects anymore.

Work that was clearly his responsibility started to rapidly trickle down to the rest of the design team. We’d be working late nights 4 out of 5 days a week because all of his projects that were in danger of missing deadlines would be re-assigned to us. Meanwhile, he’d be the first to walk out the door every day, right at 5 PM, without fail.

On top of all that, the guy was absolutely, without a doubt, the biggest tool I’ve ever met. Always right about everything, completely unbending on his idiotic opinions, and completely clueless that literally every person in the building wished he would get hit by a truck. I genuinely tried to work with him for about a year, until I decided that the job had become intolerable because of him, and wasn’t going to change any time soon, so I turned in my two-week notice.

About a month after I left, I heard that he had been let go from the job. Shortly after that, I noticed that he had changed his LinkedIn status to show that he was working for a new agency I had never heard of, also servicing that same niche industry. I looked them up, and quickly figured out that he had started his own agency… a primarily digital agency… when he had NO experience in digital or interactive design and had literally messed up every digital/interactive project he’d ever been on (I know because most of them were reassigned to me when he proved incapable of doing them himself).

I looked at the portfolio on his website and found literally project after project of my work. He was using my work from the ad agency as examples of the work his agency could produce.

I briefly considered contacting him and requesting he remove my work from his portfolio for ethical reasons.

But I could already hear his reply in my head. ‘As creative lead, all work done by my team is an extension of my creative direction.’ He’d used similar lines in the past to insert himself into receiving credit on successful projects he’d had zero involvement on.

So instead I sent an email to one of the partners of the agency we had both worked for, saying something along the lines of, ‘Hey, not sure if you’ve noticed this, but it looks like John is using your company’s intellectual property to directly compete against you.

If I had to guess, I’d assume his next step would be to make a move at your client list.’

The reply was short and sweet: ‘Thanks for bringing this to my attention. He’ll be hearing from our attorney in the morning.’ John’s website was brought down less than 24 hours later.”

9. AITJ For Stealing Her Job After She Stole My Recruit?

“I manage talent, but I also still perform. I found a listing looking for dancers to perform for a franchise, so I applied and found out this lady is organizing shows for a franchise’s different venues. She (let’s call her Lady) doesn’t have enough dancers (because of the bad pay, and I mean really bad), so I offered some of my newest recruits (and I didn’t charge commission; I did it as a favor.

This is important). It’s miles below my paygrade, but it’s regular enough that I don’t have to stress about the quiet months as a performer.

Lady told us that we will get a set amount per day in cash after doing a certain amount of shows. And what does Lady get out of organizing the shows? She gets to perform twice as much as everyone else (meaning twice the pay), and she gets first dibs on the scheduled days.

That’s fair; we were content with that.

My first 2 weeks there, I got complaints from each venue manager about Lady, and my recruits also had to sit through rants about how terribly unprofessional Lady is. Then she changed the types of shows we had to do, and some of the dancers weren’t comfortable with it, but she said it is a demand from Head Management (HM).

Then she tried asking my recruits for commission, saying HM demanded it. It reflected so poorly on me, because I gave my recruits a brief, and suddenly, after trusting me and doing a low-paying job, they are asked to hand over 20% of their pay? Then she tried asking me for commission.

I told her that that wasn’t the agreement and that her “commission” was the double pay and dibs and that she went behind my back to MY recruits and that it was so unprofessional, and she called me up at midnight to shout at me about how HM demands it. I gave her advice: alternatives and better ways to try and get a monetary commission that will keep everyone happy.

She backed off a little, or so I thought.

Suddenly, I got fewer venues on the schedule, so I don’t know how much longer I’ll be here. She went to my newest recruit (Softie), the softest one still. and demanded funds from her, and when she got it, she went to other recruits, telling them that other recruits are paying, making them think that they’re the only stubborn ones, and making them think that they might not have work anymore.

She did this until only I was left. I warned her that this way of dealing with things will only lead to either everyone leaving or someone going to HM directly. Lady went around to everyone saying how she is such close friends with HM, and after her partner quit working at the head office, they’ve been struggling financially, and this is HM’s favor to a friend, and they would never trust anyone else to arrange these shows.

There were so many other things that went wrong, that this post will get way too long if I had to go into it (but it includes not pitching up for shows, sabotaging my dancers, getting wasted between shows, lying to HM, and manipulating my recruits).

Lady started hiding the schedules and only chatting to each dancer individually (I eventually found out that this was because she would charge each dancer a different amount of commission).

THEN we find out that Lady is doing 4 TIMES as many shows as everyone else. THEN we find out that Lady has been collecting payment for shows that she got replacements for and doesn’t pay the replacements because it was originally supposed to be “Lady’s show; I don’t care if she did it for me.”

By this time, I have built up quite the reputation at each venue, lots of requests for more shows from me, and it gave me the motivation to actually start talking to some of the managers, and I was comfortable enough to raise some concerns I had (valuable info for later).

I worked out that Lady was making about $4,000-$5,000 per month, only working 2 days a week (extra shows per day, pay from other dancers’ shows, and commission).

HM spends just under $10k per month on these shows, and at least 2 other dancers work per week alongside Lady. I couldn’t really say anything, though, because I didn’t know what Lady’s agreement was with HM, but some of the managers also seemed confused. The dancers never saw each other perform, because of the different venues and the supposed rotations, and we weren’t allowed to get in contact with HM, so nobody knew.

I heard one venue manager talk about how Lady is too scared to even speak to HM and how every other venue manager is getting fed up, and how HM is getting upset about the shows not working out, because they’re paying for a variety of dancers, but they only see Lady the whole time.

THEN Lady tricked Softie into paying for an overnight hotel (Lady didn’t want to drive home after the last venue and spun some story to Softie), and when Softie woke up, she saw Lady had ordered loads of drinks to the room.

The next day, Lady went to Softie’s shows and gathered all the tips from the viewers and ordered shots, making it seem like a favor. Softie doesn’t drink and wanted to use that money to get coffee or takeout on the way to the next venue (This franchise didn’t offer food or drinks, even if we did 10 hours of work after hours (shows, travels, rehearsals), and if we wanted to have a drink at the venues, we’d pay the same inflated prices.) Softie is struggling financially as well, so a tip that’s enough to cover lunch means a lot to her.

THEN she forced Softie to hand over half her pay if she wants to be booked in the next schedule.

So, Softie did, and Lady didn’t put her into the next schedule.

FINALLY, I got hold of someone in contact with HM that could arrange a meeting.

I had the meeting today.

HM doesn’t like seeing Lady so regularly. HM doesn’t know Lady personally at all. Turns out Lady’s husband was fired on charges of stealing from the franchise.

HM doesn’t demand commissions. HM has been getting annoyed that the dancers are unhappy and receiving complaints from managers because HM doesn’t really have time to waste on dealing with it; that’s why they have Lady.

I pointed out all the issues, and HM gave Lady’s job to me.

I wasn’t going to cut Lady out at all.

I wanted to start on a clean slate with everybody already involved. As I was about to mention that I will still give Lady regular shows (almost twice as many as the rest of us at first, just so it’s not too drastic of a change in salary too quickly), Lady started cursing and screaming at me and walked out.

What makes this sweeter, is that when we met, she told me how she’s been in the entertainment industry for years (she’s 50) and how nobody can teach her anything. And now there is a running joke that she should come to me for dance lessons. Oh, and me, a 25-year-old, just took her job.”

Another User Comments:

“Wow I’m really happy for you but it really sucks that those other performers essentially had funds stolen from them under false pretenses.

Isn’t lying about that stuff fraud? They should all be informed of the extent they were lied to and go to the police to report every incident. 8. AITJ For Withholding Information From My Manager After She Cut Me Off?

Don’t say they didn’t try to help.

“This happened many years ago, but I randomly thought of it tonight when I saw a similar situation.

I used to work at a gas station. This particular company was not like most gas stations, though. They treat their employees well and train them extensively. For the most part, the atmosphere was great; the coworkers and managers were great too.

Except there was one assistant manager that was extremely rude to me.

It didn’t matter how polite I was or how hard I worked. She constantly micromanaged and would be flat-out rude. She would also snap at me and be condescending to me in front of customers. At first, I thought it might be a case of proving myself as I had run into that kind of manager before and they lightened up once they realized I was a solid employee.

But that was not the case here, and what once was a fun place to work quickly became a nightmare. To make matters worse, everyone that worked there knew this about her, but the manager always let it slide as the assistant’s relative manages another location.

One evening, she called to ask questions about which pump had broken down first as I had been there when it happened.

As I began to explain, she didn’t let me get more than a few words out (basically just wanted to hear what she thought happened) before rudely cutting me off and hanging up on me.

At that moment, I decided I had enough (trust me, it took months upon months to get to that point) and didn’t bother calling back.

Little did she know, if she had let me finish my sentence, she would have known the issue technically started at a completely different pump the first time, but it was actually all of them at once. When I arrived at work the next day, they were still having the same issues and working on the wrong pump.

This went on for several days before she and the other boss called me in the office and asked me again what exactly happened, to which I looked at her and said, “Are you going to let me finish my sentence this time, or are you going to cut me off again?” Cue the both of them staring at me like I had 6 heads…

I then went on again to explain what happened.

And made sure to point out the moment she had cut me off and hung up on me and said “Now if I had gotten to finish my sentence the other night you would have known that the issue was not with the pump they’ve been working on for the past 4 days.

And they all actually went down at once but it only appeared they went one at a time because of the timing between customers which suggests an issue with the tank system, not the pumps.”

The assistant’s eyes got wide, “You knew this whole time?! The company has spent thousands already on the wrong pump!”

To which I shrugged my shoulders and replied “Again, maybe you shouldn’t have cut me off and hung up on me.

That was the cherry on top of months of you being rude to me for no good reason. Why would I bother?”

The assistant looked at me and then to the big boss who also shrugged and said, “You know assistant, I don’t blame Throwaway one bit.” She then excused me. The assistant ended up being written up for creating a hostile work environment after the big boss investigated and heard from other employees how she had treated me.

She barely said two words to me for the remaining months I was there before I finally found a new job.

I did apologize to the big boss for not speaking up, and while she told me she wished I had spoken up, she did understand why I chose to not say anything and that there was a history of this assistant being this way towards employees that do well.

She perceives them as a threat even though they are just doing their job.

Petty but worth it! Especially if this is what it took for her to learn a lesson in treating others with simple respect.”

7. AITJ For Getting Another Man To Donate The Shelves My Ex Made Me?

“My man was unfaithful. Let’s call him Tate. I was blindsided because we were together for 6 months and were close friends for a year beforehand. I later found out he was unfaithful the entire time. He told me so many times how serious he was, wanted to get married, had kid names picked out, etc.

Lying piece of trash. He even begged me not to block him, but of course, I did.

Anyway, he handcrafted these wall shelves for me out of wood and materials from this junkyard he works at. I threw away everything in my house that reminded me of him, but the dumpster just didn’t seem right for these things.

The morning I dumped Tate, I downloaded an app to find singles an hour later as an unhealthy distraction. I matched with my ex (we’ll call him Austin) that I had blocked for several months during the relationship literally ten minutes after creating the profile. To clarify, he paid $2 to super-swipe me, haha.

Austin and I pretty much grew up together. Cutting him off was basically me losing my best friend, but hey, gotta do what’s healthy for your relationship. Till it ends. Whatever. I word vomit everything to Austin, “Hey yeah, so my ex was two-timing me the whole time, and he got super verbally abusive after I nursed him back to health after a car accident he was in a few months ago, and then he borrowed my car to go two-time me while I was recovering from a brain injury last month.

Oh, and my grandmother passed away, so I’m going through some serious STUFF.”

We meet up to catch up, and when I’m hanging out with him, I come up with my diabolical plan. Me: “Hey, Austin, can you go to the junkyard that Tate works at and donate these shelves he made for me?” Tate and Austin have never met, but Tate has seen pictures.

He hated Austin for obvious reasons, the main one being that Austin is older by a few years and generally speaking has his life together compared to Tate. What better way to send the shelves back to him along with, in the flesh, the man he apparently hated.

Austin agreed immediately. Saw the poetic justice I did in it as well.

Austin goes first thing in the morning to donate them; Austin and Tate lock eyes at the gate of the junkyard while Austin is parked in his car, and Tate I guess immediately realizes who Austin is and tries to walk away. Austin honks his horn at him and shouts, “I’m donating some shelves.” Tate slowly turns around and yells, “Put them in the dumpster” and runs off.

Austin exits his car and goes into the facility to make his presence known and is greeted by four unhappy employees. Austin tells them he’s donating shelves. They glare and point him in the right direction. Austin gives them to the intake woman and tells her, “Oh. Someone who works here made these.

When he sees them, he’ll know.” And drives away.

I know he’s not hurting at all from destroying my trust, but at least I got to ruin his day by sending Austin to his workplace and having his coworkers wonder what the heck was that all about, jerk.

P.S. if anyone can tell me why people beg you to put your walls down and let them in, beg you not to leave at least three times during previous fights, tell you they don’t even know how to betray anyone as close to them as you, call you their best friend, introduce you to their family, talk about the future all the time together, and then take a freaking sledgehammer and destroy your heart, I’d really appreciate it.”

“NTJ.

Honestly sounds like your ex Tate was a narcissist. Hate saying this, but everything you described is pretty textbook NPD. Glad you got rid of him for good – under no circumstance should you let him back into your life. Don’t even be friends – he’ll always push for more. For him to have two-timed the entire period of your relationship speaks volumes, regardless of the talks of the future.

Someone that’s so serious about marriage, kids, etc. would NEVER have done what he did. Wishing you the best! You’re 1,000 times better than he is and he knows it” QueenR145

“20 is still a baby emotionally tbh they’re 2 years into adulthood and just learning how to do grownup stuff.

I suspect he doesn’t even realize he is being such a jerk. When I was younger I wasn’t always the nicest I could be and arrogantly hurt some people. Insecurity, arrogance, and inexperience meant I was a bit like your ex. It was only really when I met my missus in my late 20s after some relationships, some time single, and learned who I am and grew up that I could be honest, open, even partner.

If it means anything relationships in your teens and early 20s are there to learn lessons from and are not the rule. I hope you get over the hurt soon, it’s not always like this.

Ps the good relationship probably isn’t your old ex, but damn if you’re young have a bit enjoyment there with no guilt if you want.” adrianpeter

Yeah you know exactly what’s up! I’m glad you can see those manipulation tactics for what they are, and you’re not giving him the benefit of the doubt. He’s a jerk and it’s been working out for him enough to not have to change. Guys that play dumb to this stuff (like the guys ((I’m assuming, guys)) in the comments blaming it on his prefrontal cortex? GIIIIVVEE MMEEEEE A BREEAAAAK) are CHOOSING to PLAY dumb to these kinds of things, so that when they’re caught they can be all ‘I’m just a widdle man don’t know no beddo! 6. AITJ For Making My Friend Miss An Important Entrance Exam?

“It happened around 5 years back when I was 15 or 16.

In my country, if you want to get into a good engineering college, you have to give an engineering entrance exam. Each year, around 1.5 to 2 million students take this exam, and roughly 10K are selected for the best institutes.

Everyone prepares for this exam for 2 years during their junior year and senior year of high school. If you pass this exam, you won’t have to look back.

As the competition is so high, almost all the students join some sort of coaching institute or tuition classes. My best friend and I also joined one such coaching institute which was one of the best.

In this institute, if you join the advanced class, there are high chances of passing the exam.

For joining the advance batch, you have to clear an in-house scholarship-cum-entrance exam or “donate” a lot of funds to the management or/and the teachers. If you don’t get a scholarship, it gets pretty hard on your pocket or your parents’ pocket.

This exam happens before the class starts. So if you fail this exam, you have to study in the lower class for the next 1 year, and after that, you have to take the exam again for a chance to study in the advanced batch.

Back to the story.

We were in the 1st year.

He had been my best friend since the 6th grade. I always had his back, even if he wasn’t there. He had a skin problem which was a big issue for bullies. Many times, I stood up to his bullies and countless other instances like that, and usually, he also did the same.

In the 1st year, his behavior changed. He acted like he was superior to me. He would say these side remarks and would then smirk. I ignored them.

We had this arrangement with one of my other friends that if there was a surprise test or quiz, I would solve one-third of the paper.

And they would solve the rest based on our strong subjects. And then later exchange the answers. He intentionally gave us wrong answers which made him score more and us less.

We had this pretty important test on a Sunday morning. The day before, I asked him if we can go together as my parents wouldn’t be available to drop me off, and he said yes.

The day comes, and he didn’t pick me up.

I called him and his parents at least a dozen times.

It was raining heavily that day. Later, he gave me an excuse that it was raining, so I wasn’t visible in front of my house, and that’s why he drove past my house and didn’t pick me up, and he was late.

I had no other way to go to the coaching and attend the test. So because of him, I missed the test.

Cue the revenge.

I reduced my communication with him and joined another friend group.

Many months later, it was our test for advanced classes for the senior year. He asked me if I can drop him off.

You guys can see where this is going. Evil grin.

He asked me, and I said yes.

He was waiting and waiting, and I never showed up. I was entering the building when he was calling him, but I silenced it.

His mom called me. I picked up with an evil grin. I said, “I was standing outside of your house, but he wasn’t visible, and I was late for my exam, so that’s why I left.”

I turned in my exam in a very happy mood.

One hour later, he came into the examination room. He had to beg and cry to the examiner to let him give the exam. I won’t say I didn’t laugh. He finally gave the exam with just one hour left out of the 3 hours.

I was selected among my friend group.

He scored less than 100 marks out of 360. He, of course, didn’t get in.

He didn’t perform well in the entrance exam either, and last I talked to him (about 3 years ago), he was studying in a 3rd tier private college.

I still love that revenge.”

5. AITJ For Refusing To Pay For The Dryer After The Company Harassed Me And My Family?

“This happened a little over 10 years ago when I was living in my home state. I’m an easy-going person, even now, but I will only put up with so much. Once you cross that line, all bets are off.

I never was one for the city, as I grew up in a small town, mainly in the country.

I and my (now ex) had an apartment and needed a few things for the place, furniture, washing machine, dryer, etc. but were strapped for money since I was barely working, and he was only on disability. We went to a place that you could rent to own those household things.

At the time, there was only one place that you could do that, and it was the largest chain that did that, all over the US. So, we went there and rented a few things over a few months, always paid on time, every 2 weeks. Never had any problems until I rented an apartment-size dryer.

The apartment we had didn’t have a 220 line for a full-size dryer, so had to settle with the apartment size one.

Everything went fine until about 2 months into the rental on this. All of a sudden, they started calling me every other week, starting a week before the payment was due. They didn’t only call me, they also called my dad and were harassing him saying if we didn’t make the payment, we would be in default, and they would come take the dryer away.

It was all of about $35 every other week if I remember correctly. This went on for about 2 months before I finally started to tell them this was harassment, and it was illegal. They said they just wanted to make sure I knew the date the payment was due, wanted to make sure we made the payment, yadda yadda yadda.

Now, mind you, at the time, I didn’t know they were also harassing my dad until this time.

My dad finally had enough of them and called me and told me of the harassment. I then called them up and demanded to know why they were harassing my dad, who had NOTHING to do with the payments and was ONLY an EMERGENCY contact in case they couldn’t reach me.

They, again, stated they had the right to do this, wanted to make sure they got their payment, yadda yadda yadda. I then told them if I got one more phone call BEFORE my payment was due, they would NOT receive another payment and would not see the dryer. Lo and behold, the next day, they called again “reminding me of the payment due date,” yadda yadda yadda.

Well, we were moving anyway, so I and my ex decided to have a little fun with them. We moved, changed our numbers, and I told my dad if they called again to tell them he would press charges for the harassment and that I would do the same.

I and my ex moved that month, changed our phone numbers, and didn’t tell the rental company.

I kept that dryer for another 2 months without making payments. I felt it was owed to us for the harassment. After 2 months, I called them and told them to come pick up their junk.

This city has a high crime rate of almost every crime you can think of and was at the time in the top 5 counties in the entire US as most corrupt all the way around.

They send 2 kids right out of high school to get this dryer.

They show up at my door, knock, and just walk on in. I go to the steps ready for a fight until I see their uniforms. They say they are there to pick up the dryer, and I tell them they just broke into my house and were subject to getting arrested on the spot and some of the other things they were doing.

They tell me to call their office, which believe me I did, and I proceeded to scream at the top of my lungs at how unprofessional that was, not to mention illegal, stupid, etc. They told me they had every right to “just walk in since I had their stuff.” I then informed them that breaking and entering were illegal since I had a witness (my ex) who heard them just walk in.

They threatened to call the cops on me, and I told them to go ahead, since I had them IN MY HOUSE AFTER BREAKING IN.

Needless to say, they didn’t call anyone. I let them take the dryer, while still on the phone with their office. The office then told me I had 30 days to get my payments up to date, or they would have that balance put on my credit.

I told them if anything showed up on my credit report, I’d let their corporate office know how they like to break into people’s houses, demanding this and that, the harassment, etc. I also told them I demanded a PUBLIC APOLOGY in the paper to me, my ex, and my dad for all the harassment they pulled, and for breaking into my house, etc.

Needless to say, we never got our apology, but also, they never saw another penny from me, and nothing went on my credit report.”

Another User Comments:

“NTJ. They had no right to harass you and especially your father like that. You’re awesome for never caving in. And bringing innocent high school kids into this to do their dirty work?! What jerks.” (deleted)

4. AITJ For Spoiling "Avengers: Endgame" For My Friend?

“So, this happened to me during the first week of Avengers: Infinity War release. I had a friend from social media (let’s call him Shaz) who I just became friends with because he was in the same social media group for football fans and also supported the same club.

So Avengers: Infinity War was released, and I was hyped up and avoiding any spoilers from the internet.

I and my friends bought tickets for the movie, and I couldn’t wait as this was my first time watching a movie in the cinema. On the day of the show, I get up in the morning and see a notification from social media that Shaz tagged me in a post.

It didn’t cross my mind that it could be a spoiler because usually whenever he’d tag me in a post, it’d be a football-related post. So I’m on the post, and it’s a gif of two of the most crucial and hyped scenes of the movie. As soon as I saw it, my heart sank.

I was so hyped before, and now all my anticipation for the movie went down the drain. I felt so bad. But I was also furious as ever.

Shaz himself used to post a lot of stuff about movies and Netflix shows. Often about what shows he’s watching and sharing his opinions.

So I made a plan. I decided to wait when something as hyped up as Endgame would be released and send him a message on Messenger spoiling it. I made a sticky note about it and put it on my desktop.

After some time, I forgot about it, and a year passed.

Avengers: Endgame was released. I and my friends were talking about going to the cinema to watch Endgame, and I immediately remembered the Infinity War spoiler incident. So we went to watch the movie as soon as we could, so it wouldn’t get spoiled.

After I’ve watched the movie which was absolutely amazing, I write Shaz a message on Messenger, something like usual football stuff followed by the spoiler.

The reason I typed the message like this was if I had started the message with the spoiler, then he might have seen the notification, and a glimpse of my message could’ve given him an idea and therefore not reading the spoiler at all. It was also to get him interested in the message like its usual talk and halfway through drop a spoiler, so he just reads it with the flow.

Also if it’s a long message, social media app and desktop just show you the 9 or 10 words, and you have to open it to read the whole message. (I actually experimented and calculated it.)

I did it. Dropped him a message, “Bro, did you watch the match last night against (SPOILER THIS HAPPENS IN ENDGAME).

I woke up the next day to see messages filled with anger and abuse from Shaz. It made me so freaking happy. I replied and told him that the gif he tagged me in spoiled my movie last year the day I was about to go to watch the show. I also know that the spoilers he tagged me in were not as damaging as the ones I gave him.

To be honest, I wasn’t even angry anymore that he spoiled my movie, but I just wanted him to experience the same thing.”

Another User Comments:

“NTJ.

Glad your revenge worked; I too hate spoilers, but some folks aren’t bothered by them at all. When Star Wars Return of the Jedi came out, my friends and I all bought tickets for $25 to a special showing so we could see it the night before the “official” release (regular theatre tickets were typically $4).

This was a major investment for poor college students; so when the script was leaked and several magazines carried the story, I did my best to stay clear of all media which might spoil the story.

My friends, on the other hand, read the entire Newsweek article containing the plot of the movie, and would tease me relentlessly that they were going to reveal parts of it.

They kept dropping hints about things that might be in the movie, until I threatened them with bodily harm if they didn’t stop. Which they did. In the end, I let the movie spoil itself for me; the second I saw an Ewok, I told myself, okay, this franchise is officially dead.” FoolishStone

3. AITJ For Making A Customer Pay A Restocking Fee?

“I run a business selling Fire and EMS supplies. Because this crosses over into some Civilian education (CPR training), we have quite a few civilian customers.

One of them has only placed 2 orders with us for 2 years. The order is for CPR training valves. These are plastic pieces that go on the face mask for mouth-to-mask training.

They are cheap alternatives to using the actual one-way valves that come with the mask.

They used to come 10 to a box and just sat loose in the box. The manufacturer changed the packaging to be more hygienic. They come in a sealed ziplock-style bag and are individually wrapped.

This customer places a 2 order with us a full year and a half after her first, a good year into the packaging change over.

She orders 1,600 of these valves.

We don’t keep that many in stock, so we have them drop-shipped from the manufacturer.

2 weeks after they are delivered, we get a phone call from the buyer. We sent her a completely different item and this is not what she wanted. She wanted a full refund and for us to pay for return shipping.

I ask her what is wrong with the product.

She states they come in bags, and she wants them in a box.

I explain they don’t come in a box anymore. This woman doubles down and insists I am fooling her.

I ask why she insists on having them in a box.

She says this way she can just put them on the table and have people pick one out as they grab the other training material.

(UGH, talk about unhygienic.)

I explain to her that she can just take them out of the bags and put them in a shoebox or any box and still accomplish the same thing.

Nope, she wants them in a box if I can’t send them in a box then she wants her money back.

I again explain that no manufacturer offers them in a box anymore they all went to the more hygienic packaging.

This woman is being a complete witch, so I do something I never do.

In writing, we state our return policy is they pay a 20% restocking fee for all returns. Again, I have in 15 years (at the time) never enforced this policy. I have also never encountered such a raging witch.

Since the item is not defective, I told her I would not refund shipping either, and she could pay for return shipping.

This foolish woman said fine; they were useless anyway.

This foolish woman lost $350 in shipping had to pay another $350 to ship it to me and had over a $400 restocking fee.

In the end, it cost her almost $1,200, and she had nothing to show for it. Some Petty revenge. I then just sold off the inventory now with a little extra inventory on each.”

So she got the items she wanted, but because it was boxed differently it was a problem?

“NTJ. Honestly, I would have contacted her boss (there’s no way she can be the boss of her company/facility.

It would have closed down a long time ago) and told them all about this.

People like that should not be allowed near anything where hygiene matters.” Gadgetman_1

Another User Comments:

“NTJ but whenever I hear stories like this, it makes me think that the person on the other end has an abusive boss.

People freak out over dumb stuff like this because they are TERRIFIED that they will get in trouble over something this seemingly insignificant.” nopostshelp

Another User Comments:

“That is an extreme reaction I would say.

But, that always depends on the customer.

I ran into a situation once where small items packaging was changed by the manufacturer (lower manufacturing cost) 10 items per box each item individually boxed to 100 per box each item shrink-wrapped.

At the customer end, items were distributed to work stations in boxes of 10 items no partial boxes. Each workstation had a set area for the parts. Work stations are easily replenished at a glance by storekeepers. Since one manufacturer changed their packaging, it caused extra work for the customer. Boxes had to be acquired that could be used to redistribute the parts, time was lost removing the shrink wrap.

I thought it was funny, prices never changed. One side increased profits so slightly at the other end profits decreased a bit more.

Just a thought, the customer in your case may have been retentive but at the same time… maybe the supplier could have been a bit more understanding of the customer.” Bumblebee_Radiant

2. AITJ For Forwarding An Email Exposing The Company To Every Employee?

“Ok, I’m gonna write this up while I still have the adrenaline rush from hitting the button.

The previous job I had was working with an events construction company. Unfortunately, during the winter months, there aren’t very many events, so I was running dangerously close to flat broke due to the lack of work.

I decided to start looking for another job with little to no experience required.

I had applied for a few admin jobs when I received an email saying I got invited to an interview. At this point, I wasn’t keeping track of what companies I had applied to, so I wasn’t surprised when I didn’t recognize the company name which I’m gonna call “Brainwashing & Manipulation Advertising Co.” for legal reasons, or B&M for short.

I searched through my internet history to see if I could find the application on any of the job websites I frequented, but I didn’t find anything. But I thought, “Forget it; work is work. I may as well see what B&M’s about.”

During the first interview process, nothing really seemed weird.

It felt like a normal interview with the only notable thing being that everyone applying for it was really young and all in their early and mid-20s. I usually interview quite well, so I was pretty confident that I had made it into the next interview, but when I received a callback, the guy who interviewed me continuously hinted at me not being invited back before finally telling me that I had passed into the next round of interviews.

After that call, I found myself going from not caring whether or not I had gotten the job to suddenly being really excited that I had made it through, which I thought was odd.

During the second interview, I was taken to “the field” by a team leader ‘Hannah’ to see what the work would actually consist of.

During the train ride out, the business was explaining to me in a very much rushed manner, but essentially, it was being the guys who stand in shopping centers and get you to sign up a direct debit for charity. It was commission meaning I wouldn’t be paid unless I signed anyone up.

This did put me off, but they told me about their special “training program” that guaranteed to teach me sales and marketing techniques that would successfully get me to sign people up. I thought this would be a great chance to learn some transferable skills, make some bank, and increase my confidence in approaching and talking to people since I usually was a quiet guy, so I took the job.

On my first training day, I realized I have never been in a place like this before. I was taken by Hannah to the “Impact room” or training room for “Atmosphere” or training. This is where I started to notice that they had a lot of odd terminology for pretty simple things, but I kinda brushed it off.

The training room was blasting loud music, there were no chairs or desks, and there were whiteboards on every wall and a room full of highly excited and motivated early 20’s people in great-looking suits.

They told me that the music was to make it easier to focus on one person training you in the room instead of the 50-odd other people inside the room also talking, and everyone stood to maintain focus on the lessons.

I was given the tour of the building, and they explained some of the things that they would be teaching me, and the weird bell hanging from the roof of in the middle of the training room which Hannah called the most important thing in the business. Suddenly. the guy who interviewed me, ‘Joey,’ walks into the training room and shouts:

Joey: “HEY, GUYS!”

Entire room: “HEY, WHAT?”

Joey: “HEY, GUYS!”

Entire room: “HEY, WHAT?”

Joey: “HOW WE FEELING?”

Entire room: “RICH!”

My immediate thought was, what the actual heck was that? And Hannah explained that they did that to grab everyone’s attention for announcements and that afterward, everyone will shout the word J.U.I.C.E., which stood for Join Us In Creating Excitement.

It was a bit jarring for the first day, but the announcements were read out, and I was sent home for the day while the rest of the office went to the field.

So, my retraining began. (Yes, retraining is literally what they called it.) During the first 3 days, I only stayed in the office learning the sales techniques they used like “The law of averages,” S.E.E Factors, the Jones effect, the greed effect, the various systems they use, and finally, the script they made to pitch the charities.

Honestly, it was an overwhelming amount of work, but I didn’t mind since I was sent home whenever the office had broken up to go to the field, so I got plenty of rest.

Once I was fully trained, though, things got infinitely worse. The training meetings happened every day starting at 7:30, and I was told I was expected to be in.

every. single. day. and work hard, so I could get promoted and move up the ranks, earning a ton. At this point, I was sold on the idea of getting to “leadership,” so I agreed.

After the meeting, we would go to the field, which was basically anywhere where we were permitted to recruit for that particular charity, and then we would run around highly excited to everyone trying to sign them up to which the vast majority ignored us or insulted us.

After the field, we were expected to go back to the office and review our day and relearn the techniques used in training, essentially working 12 to 13 hour days without being paid a penny if you didn’t get a sign-up.

The aim was to make $125 in commission sign-ups and ring the bell.

Unless you got those sign-ups you needed, you were shamed. Initially, this came off as a light-hearted joke and a positive environment, but I started to notice cracks in the facade.

No one in the office got more than 4 hours of sleep per night, and there were coffee and smoking addictions throughout the office, and worst of all, there was a constantly forced sense of positivity regardless of the circumstances.

Have you been walking in the rain for 8 hours straight and haven’t eaten? Don’t think about it. Have you not signed anyone up in a week and can’t afford travel? Don’t worry about it; we’ll loan you the funds. Just keep up the positive vibes. Just worry about your pitch (what you’re selling), your pace (how fast you’re selling it), and your attitude.

On top of all that, you were constantly expected to network with other people in similar companies that do well in their sales. It was an extremely cult-like environment, and I wasn’t the only one who recognized it, but we all thought if it’s for the sake of progress and success, what harm could it do…?

After a week, I was exhausted, and I had barely 3 people signed up that week.

That left me spending significantly more than I was making and asking my sister to loan me the funds to work just so I could get good enough at sales to earn a living and finally receive the future of riches and financial freedom that they promised every single morning in those meetings.

On that day, I started hearing from the others in the group that my numbers weren’t good enough and that I had to believe more in the system and work harder or attitudes in the office would change towards me, and I would be left behind. This triggered an anxiety attack, and I ended up sobbing on the phone to my sister about how exhausted I was and how I was terrified of losing everything I had put into the job.

The next morning, I tried to explain to my boss about the anxiety attack I had and how the work environment here was very stressful, but he deflected saying there are people who had tougher situations to deal with who still find success because they remained positive and persevered. He also said he was glad I had those panic attacks because if I could make it past them, it would show I had the makings of a leader.

Again, I bought into the nonsense and thought that if I could just overcome that, I could make it to the next stage, and so I slaved away for another week exhausted.

Things took a turning point when I was on the Field with Hannah and a person she approached mentioned the company Credico, and all of a sudden, she avoided him like the plague.

Later that day when we got back to the office, we were shown a speech by someone who was successful in the business, and on the podium he stood in front of was the name CREDICO in big bold letters.

So, I went home and looked it up finding a documentary on YouTube.

I. Was. Furious. Basically, everything I had experienced from the past 3 weeks was described to a T in that video. From the day I walked into the office, they were emotionally manipulating me and conditioning me to do ungodly amounts of work for basically pocket change on the chance to make a fortune in the future.

I didn’t want to believe it, but the video explained everything I had questions about and more, whereas whenever I had asked questions about the business to anyone who was in it, I was shut out and told to “get to leadership to find out.”

I wasn’t the only one this information was restricted from.

I met so many new people joining that had amazing hopes, dreams, and ambition that this company was farming to make funds off of. One girl I spoke to was thinking about quitting med school to work at B&M full time. One guy was an ex-homeless junkie who was trying hard to turn his life around and be a good father.

A lot of people were fresh out of uni and were trying to launch their careers.

This was the tipping point for me. I knew that if I had spoken to the managers about it, they would brush it under the carpet and ignore it. So, I thought, screw it either way; I’m not working there tomorrow, and people had the right to decide the truth for themselves.

So, I pull up the vast list of people I was told to network with and forwarded the documentary to everyone on the list to see what happened…

Then my phone blew up with messages from everyone from the bottom in sales all the way up to the owners. I very obviously got fired, but it was worth it because half the office quit right then and there.

The schadenfreude was delicious.

To give you a better picture of what it was like there, let me tell you about Super Challenge Fridays.

So, every Friday the sales guys at the bottom are encouraged to challenge each other to who could make the most profit in a day. At first, I wasn’t confident enough to dish out a challenge, but ‘Joey’ egged me on to do it, and in the end, I challenged one of the other leaders who was training me, and another new recruit was egged on to challenge me, so I ended up with 2 matches.

The base penalty is a public apology from the losers to the winners. But it got a bit hectic after that… Someone challenged another for a chance to shave off their man bun. Another challenge was for the loser to get their eyebrow shaven off, and that was just the beginning…

On that day, I was put on a lottery charity campaign.

This immediately put me on the back foot since signing someone up on a lottery campaign pays less than half of the regular direct debit campaigns, which the other 2 people I was against were both on. This meant to make $140.03 profit and ring the bell, they would have to get 4 sign-ups whereas I would have to get 10.

Of course, being new and not great at sales yet, I lost both challenges. The losers were made to get on their knees and read a pre-written script essentially praising the winners and asking their forgiveness for challenging the winners. The one guy who was too proud to admit he lost and do the same punishment was pressured into a corner and forced to read the script while the crowd booed him and recorded it.

I think I’ve still got a recording on my phone somewhere.”

“NTJ!! You had every right to expose that mess of a company, if you can even call it that. Gonna have to check out that YouTube doc…” Reddit User

“NTJ. So glad you got out of that pyramid scheme. I know that once you’re sucked in, it’s hard to get out and a lot of people suffer financially because jerks promised them the world. You not only saved yourself but a ton of other people.” marksplend02

Major red flags. They're pyramid schemes and illegal. Run baby run. Good on you for blowing up a giant wake-up call on your way out.
FYI to US readers. US law requires you to be paid for training. If they don't, its a scam.

1. AITJ For Putting Skin Flakes In A Customer's Stew?

“Former BBQ restaurant worker here.

I’m talking a tiny, mom-and-pop BBQ joint (shack) with a drive-thru window and a kitchen barely big enough for three workers to move around in type of place.

But this place was packed every day, as are most of the well-renowned southern BBQ restaurants.

We had this one guy that came through our drive-thru a lot.

He was nearly completely deaf and would place orders through a deaf assistance service. Jerk ate our BBQ every single day and would pull up to the drive-thru window at around 11 am every morning to get his food.

He expected everything to be ready the second he arrived at the window.

He was generally a jerk about everything.

So, I’m working one morning and I receive a call from his ordering service with his typical order, which included a pint of Brunswick stew.

I am one of two working that day, so I immediately begin preparing Jerk’s food so it would be ready for him.

45 seconds after hanging up the phone, one of our better regulars comes in and orders two full-size pans of banana pudding.

I look in the cooler and see that there’s only one. Right as I begin to delegate the banana pudding-making task to my coworker, I hear the ding of the drive-thru window and glance to see Jerk knocking on the window from the front seat of his decrepit van.

I run over, give him his food, and think that’s the end of him.

No tip of course.

I come back to finish ringing up nice regular’s banana pudding, and I hear the front door of the restaurant open and Jerk’s 280-pound, 5’8″ frame walking in. He immediately begins screaming.

I remember that I hadn’t yet scooped out his Brunswick stew. It was an honest mistake.

As I go back to get his stew, I make out what I believe is the phrase ‘wimpy kid.’

Note that this isn’t my first run-in with Jerk.

This is a daily occurrence, and I was nearing my wit’s end with him. And one thing I am not is a ‘wimpy kid.’

I am a wrestler, and one of the negatives about wrestling is that sometimes you develop some nasty skin conditions. Unfortunately for me, I was dealing with one which had broken out on my face a few days prior.

As I’m scooping out Jerk’s Brunswick stew in the back of the kitchen which is out of the customer’s view, I reach up and give my face a nice scratch, watching gleefully as scabs fall into Jerk’s pint of stew. I walked back to the front and gave him his stew and wished him a good day.”
