Humans aren’t the only ones who can enjoy taking selfies. Sometimes, if an animal is curious enough, their boredom in their everyday lives leads them to hilarious discoveries we, humans, can relate to.
Documenting Wildlife
In Boulder, Colorado, the Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks (OSMP) team had set up cameras to monitor local wildlife.
How It Works
The cameras are strategically placed and are motion-activated. They are designed to take both still photos and short videos. Will Keeley, senior wildlife ecologist for Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks, said, “The motion-detecting cameras provide us a unique opportunity to learn more about how local species use the landscape around us while minimizing our presence in sensitive habitats.”
Its Purpose
These cameras serve an important role in helping the OSMP staff learn more about the behavior of local wildlife and the use of the landscape. It helps with enhancing the protection of sensitive natural habitats.

One time, a black bear became an overnight sensation after discovering a wildlife camera and having a photoshoot using it.
Such A Vain Animal
The OSMP team was surprised and delighted when they found that out of 580 snaps, 400 were what can only be described as “bear selfies.”
Instant Celebrity
The OSMP shared a few of these adorable shots on Twitter and Instagram, and people from all over the world have been adoring them and leaving witty comments on them.
Model-Material
Fans have been praising the bear’s antics and mentioning its modeling potential. One said, “Selfie skills 12/10,” while another person said, “There’s some Blue Steel in the 3rd picture… hire that bear model!”
Such An Entertainment
Philip Yates, a spokesperson for the Boulder OSMP, said that the staff was amused by the bear’s interest in their camera. He said, “These pictures made us laugh, and we thought others would too.”
