Caring Dad Mows Ex-Wife’s Lawn For 28 Years After Divorce

Just imagine how wonderful the world would be if it were filled with more respectful and kind people like this ex-couple.

Their Marriage Didn’t Work

Codie LaChelle McPhate’s parents have been divorced for 28 years, but she just shared how wonderful her parents’ friendship is even today.

They Remained Friends

Codie said that her parents decided when they were going through their divorce that they would both be mature and respectful of each other because “no matter how their marriage ended, they both loved each other very much at one point, and that that love — counts for something.”

Her Mom’s Bad Knees

Codie’s mom has bad knees and her stepdad works out of town but her biological dad knew that she needed help and couldn’t get out to mow the lawn, so he did.

An Extra Mile

Codie also commended her dad’s efforts. She said, “My dad is with me in Texas on vacation. He doesn’t even live here where my mom lives. So not only did he do something selflessly for her, he did it for her while he was on his VACATION.”

Her Younger Siblings’ Reaction

When Codie’s younger siblings saw her dad’s thoughtful act, they were surprised that such care and friendship can exist even between two former lovers.

Always Choose Kindness

Codie’s dad wants everyone to know that he’s not trying to be a saint but “he just wants to show others that you don’t need to act like an angelic pastor on Lent, but that we should all choose kindness whenever we can,” says Codie.

Their Goal

Codie also shared what her parents are trying to demonstrate with their attitude toward co-parenting. She said, “That if they were going to raise their children to be good, kind people, they needed to be good kind people.”

Effective Parenting

There’s no formula for raising perfect children, but it is really helpful when both parents show the kind of attitude and mindset they want to witness in their children in the simple things they do for each other inside or outside of marriage.
