One of the most heartbreaking things about owning a pet is not knowing what will happen to them when we’re gone.
A couple of weeks ago, several people spotted a German Shepherd wandering the streets of Detroit.
The sight broke the hearts of many people as it was raining that day and the dog seem to not have any place to go.
Nowhere To Go
More people reached the dog’s story, whom they called Nicholas. The German Shepherd looked so lonely walking aimlessly on the street while carrying a small stuffed toy in her mouth.
Calling For Help
Some of the locals who saw the poor dog’s photo tagged several rescue groups like the South Lyon Murphy group and Almost Home Rescue.
Katrina Stood Up
One of those who did something to rescue the dog was Katrina Weaver, the owner of It Is Pawzable Dog Training.
Upon rescuing the poor doggo, it was eventually discovered that she was a female so her name was changed to Nikki. Also, the rescuers learned that her owner passed away, and the tiny stuffed toy that she carried everywhere she goes was the only thing that gives her comfort.
The rescuers took Nikki to the vet where they learned that she had heartworm, which meant that she has to undergo treatment for around four months.
She’s In A Loving Home
Right now, Nikki is in a loving foster home while resting, gaining strength, getting better, and recovering, and her rescuers are hoping that she would find her forever home soon.
