Keen Journalist Helps Save Stuck Horse After Wildfire

It’s important that people keep a keen eye on whoever might need help around them.

Ravaging Fire

The Creek Fire in Southern California scattered through more than 15,600 acres and not everyone was able to evacuate.

A Horse In Distress

Kenny, a 23-year-old horse, almost didn’t make it out of the crisis alive when he stumbled and got trapped in a crevice between stable walls while he was running out of his stable.

His Savior

Fortunately, Gina Silva, a newscaster for KTTV Fox News and KCOP, was doing real-time reporting on the wildfire onsite when she saw Kenny.

Asking For Help

Gina immediately pulled out her phone and posted on Twitter to ask for help. Her tweet says, “Horse needs help!!! Stuck in a tiny gap. Fell running away from fire in Sylmar. 12122 Kagel Canyon. @FOXLA”

Help Came In

People were quick to retweet Gina’s post and it didn’t take long before a local veterinarian read the tweet and got in touch with her. Locals offered their help as well.

All For One

Gina said, “Several viewers sprung into action. A veterinarian tranquilized the horse, others began moving furniture out of a garage and LA County fire freed up a small crew to help with the rescue. They all tore down the wall to free the animal.”

Road To Recovery

Kenny was then brought to the veterinarian’s clinic for treatment, and luckily, he only had minor injuries and recovered in no time.

Attitude Of Gratitude

When Kenny’s owner learned about Gina’s heroism, she was incredibly grateful for the efforts of everyone involved in the rescue, and she immediately reached out to say thank you. She even sent Gina flowers and a handwritten note.
