Executive Director Of Nursing Facility Adopts Little Girl She Found Hiding With One Of The Seniors

By deciding to love and care for a little girl, this woman formed a new family based on resilience, choice, and unconditional love.

Meet Savanah

Savanah Patt is the executive director at Jasmine Estates of Edmond Memory Care.

A Little Girl

One day, she was making a round in the facility, helping the elderly, when she stumbled upon a little girl behind a recliner in one of the rooms. She saw a young, scared girl next to an elderly woman who identified herself as the girl’s grandmother.

Meet Renlee

The little girl was 9-year-old Renlee who was found in a hoarded trailer that was surrounded by animals, filth, and neglect in Southeast Oklahoma City, where she lived with her older brother.

Tragic Childhood

Renlee sought a home with her grandmother in the nursing home when her parents, who were struggling with addiction, abandoned her and her siblings.

The Proposal

Savanah was moved by Renlee’s situation and took an unprecedented step by asking Renlee if she could be her mother.

Better Life

With love, security, and hope for a better future, Renlee’s acceptance of Savanah’s proposal marked the start of a new chapter in their lives.

Her Sister

In a surprising turn of events, Savanah was contacted a few years later regarding Renlee’s older sister, Cheyanne, who had spent her whole life bouncing between friends and family. Without thinking twice, Savanah invited 13-year-old Cheyanne into her family as well.

Life Is Good

Renlee and Cheyanne broke the generational pattern of abuse and neglect in their family by being the first ones to graduate from high school.

Giving Back

Motivated by the love and care she was given, Renlee is currently obtaining a nursing degree with the goal of giving the same level of help and empathy that Savanah gave her.
