There’s a certain hype that energetic dance routines induce to the atmosphere that makes the audience feel the energy and enthusiasm of the performers, and it’s one of the most important factors a dance routine should have.

A lot of us probably remember the British-Greek comedy “Zorba the Greek” wherein at the end of the film, the two characters named Basil and Zorba dance an upbeat choreography by the beach.

When Basil told Zorba that he’ll be leaving in a few days, Basil asked Zorba to teach him a dance to lament the end of their friendship.

This 1964 film is where the “traditional” Greek dance named “Sirtaki” originated, and this choreography is being danced even by youngsters in modern times.

Of course, the routine wouldn’t be complete without one of the girls playing the role of Zorba in the performance. One of the dancers whipped out a white handkerchief as the tempo sped up and demanded more hops and leaps.

At the end of the performance, two of the dancers brought out plates and smashed them to the ground while yelling “OPA!” to conclude their routine.

Just like how these girls brought a new life to a dance routine from the 60s, a lot of cultural dances are being honored and revived by several dance groups, and it’s one of the things a fast-growing modern world cannot easily take away.
