Groundskeeper Who Lived In Trailer Park Donates $3.8 Million To His Beloved Town

Our idea of a well-lived life entails that a person should be able to develop and realize his full potential, become whole and complete, be true to himself, and lead an authentic life, and this generous man did just that.

Meet Geoffrey

Geoffrey Holt was a shy and content man who lived a humble life in a trailer park.

His Town

He lived in the small town of Hinsdale, N.H. in a mobile home park called Stearns Park.

His Story

In the 1960s, Geoffrey decided to settle in Hinsdale after years of working as a teacher and in a grain mill.

Simple Life

Since then, he had been content in living a simple life as the town’s handyman and groundskeeper.

His Hobby

Aside from being a reliable worker, Geoffrey was an avid collector of die-cast cars and model trains on the side. His mobile home and a nearby shed were filled with model train tracks and a huge collection of miniature cars.

A Widower

In 2017, Geoffrey faced health problems and grieved the loss of his partner. Since then, his life revolved around tinkering with his collections or riding his mower.

Sweet Ride

He also owned a car but preferred riding his mower when he went to Walmart.

Leaving A Legacy

Sadly, Geoffrey recently passed away at the age of 82, and his passing revealed a big secret he kept from everyone over the years – that he was actually a multimillionaire.

Generous Gift

His neighbors and fellow townsmen only learned about this after finding out that he left behind a fortune of approximately $3.8 million to the town of Hinsdale, which the town now uses for education, recreation, health, and culture, in honor of Geoffrey’s memory.
