Police Officers Free Man Whose Wheelchair Is Stuck On Tracks Moment Before Train Zips Through

We’ve all heard of horror stories involving train tracks. Fortunately for one lucky man, he was saved just seconds before a train drove by when his wheelchair was stuck on the tracks.

Police Officer Erika Urrea Happened to Be At the Right Place at the Right Time

Officer Urrea was already at Union Pacific Railroad tracks near Lodi Avenue in Sacramento, California on August 12, 2020 at 8:44 a.m. before the train made its way through.

She Immediately Hopped Out of Her Patrol Vehicle to Intervene

Right after she spotted the man on the tracks, seeing that the train was quickly approaching, she knew she needed to step in and do something to help.

Initially, the Wheelchair Wouldn’t Budge

It took a few tugs, but Officer Urrea was eventually able to free the stuck wheelchair from the tracks. She pulled with all her might, sending both herself and the man in the wheelchair to the ground.

The Officer is the Reason the Man is Even Alive

If she weren’t there, let alone watching the incident about to go down, things would have gone very differently, to say the least.

Luckily, the Man Only Suffered a Leg Injury

But a leg injury is much better than losing his precious life.

The Man Was Taken to a Local Hospital for Treatment

The anonymous, 66-year-old man is doing well following the incident and is expected to make a full recovery.

Officer Urrea’s Department Was Very Proud to Hear About the Rescue

“Officer Urrea risked her own life to save another and her actions prevented a tragedy today,” Lodi Police Department said in a statement. “We are extremely proud of Officer Erica Urrea and her heroism.”

Viewers’ Hearts Were Warmed

“Gave me chills! Well done officer…you are a hero and a credit your department. THANK YOU for continuing to honor your duty despite the most challenging of social times. Absolutely so proud to watch this…” another commenter said.

The Heroic Act Was Caught on Camera

The entire scene was featured in a heart-racing video caught via body cam.
