Groom Picks Up Mom From Wheelchair To Perform Dance At Wedding

Mothers have a very special bond with their children. Whether she is a birth mother, an adopted mother, or even just a “chosen” mom, each mother gives up a piece of themselves as they parent their children. They abandon their independence and any selfishness to completely care for another human being. There are wonderful, happy moments of parenthood, but there will always be moments of worry and heartbreak. That’s all part of parenting and watching their little ones grow from babies to teens, and finally, to adults.

Any parent who is lucky enough to hold their baby in their arms and years later, watch them at a significant event like a wedding, graduation, or even the birth of their own child, knows just how special those moments are. Adult children who recognize the sacrifices their parents made for them often go out of their way to include their parents in these important events.

In 1983, Lori married Dave, her high school sweetheart. Lori had already been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, but at the time of their marriage, the symptoms were still fairly minimal. Unfortunately, that wouldn’t last forever. Her symptoms progressed and worsened and doctors determined that it was very unlikely that the couple would have children. However, Lori eventually gave birth to three children: Valerie, David, and Heather.

In 2013, David had his own wedding and his mother was in attendance. At the reception, he planned an incredibly beautiful mother-son dance that had the whole room in tears, not to mention anyone who watches the video. David holds his mother in his arms like she once held him and it’s a very heartwarming, yet bittersweet family moment. In the moment, he shows love and respect for the woman who cared for him and is trying to reward her in every way possible.
