Every single day, we’re saturated with external stimuli that sometimes can lead us to feel desensitized. But if we were able to practice the age-old expression of walking in one’s shoes, we may be able to understand how difficult it can be to survive under different circumstances.
Unfortunately, this isn’t a possibility, so while we are getting on with our daily rituals or ticking off things on our to-do list, we sometimes forget to stop and smell the flowers. That is, to notice all of the beauty around us. But things are a bit different in this video and maybe that’s why it has been shared over a million times on YouTube.
It shows a young man named Dawid Osial, a singer/songwriter, standing on the street in Leeds, United Kingdom, playing the guitar and singing a few tunes. But on this particular evening, Osial would be swapping a solo for a duet with passerby named Jade Helliwell. Helliwell was on her way home from a night out when she asked Osial if she could join him, and together the pair creates something utterly magical.
They decided to sing Leonard Cohen’s famous song, ‘Hallelujah,’ and as it turns out, Helliwell herself is a local singer in Leeds as well, hoping to make it big in the music industry.
Luckily, this video was caught on camera so millions can feel their emotions, and take a moment to realize the sheer beauty, confidence, stamina, and dedication that it takes to actually perform in front of an audience. Good job, Dawid, and Jade.
