Dog Leaves Blind Grandma To Investigate Burglary, Dials 911 Before Lethal Gas Kills Them

Ever since I watched “Home Alone” as a kid, I’ve always worried about intruders breaking into my home. It’s been a fear ever since I saw that movie! To this day, it’s still one of my favorites, but deep down, it still kind of scares me to know that a break-and-enter could happen to anyone at any time! You could be away on vacation or sleeping right at home in the middle of the night and still fall victim to a senseless crime. I guess the silver lining for me, having watched “Home Alone” at such a young age, is that I always keep my door locked!

But, terrible things still happen, whether you lock your door or not. For Christina Colon, who is blind and in her sixties, from Philadelphia, PA, USA, she just barely made it out alive thanks to her guardian angel, her guide dog, Yolanda.

Christina and her golden retriever, Yolanda, were at home sleeping. It was in the middle of the night when two burglars broke into her home. But it wasn’t the crashing and thundering from downstairs that woke her up, it was Yolanda’s growling that startled her out of her sleep. The dog already picked up on the danger that was happening as she ran out of the bedroom and pulled the door shut behind her, to keep Christina safe. The pup ran downstairs to chase the two intruders out of the house, but the dog and owner weren’t out of harm’s way yet.

The two burglars had turned on the gas stove, quickly filling the house with poisonous gas. Christina tried to reach the phone to call 911, barely able to speak, trying to tell the operator that she can’t breathe, but the police were already at her doorstep.

Yolanda had pressed a special emergency button on Christina’s phone that immediately contacted the police to inform them of their dire situation. The dog’s quick reaction – and exceptional know-how! – brought the police to the scene of the commotion, prompting an extra speedy response. This dog knew exactly what to do in the face of danger! How many humans can say they’d react the same way so quickly? Yolanda is a quick-thinking hero pup, as well as Christina’s angel!

This story goes to show that your furry friends will always be there for you, in the good times and the bad.
