Have You Tried Deep-Fried Peanut Butter? I Can’t Stop Drooling…

Where I live, there’s a large annual fair where you can watch live shows, go on exciting rides and play games to win prizes. But over the last few years, one of the main attractions has been the outrageous food that’s served up by some very creative vendors! From donut burgers to mac & cheese cupcakes, it’s tough to sample everything without running out of room in your belly!  And to be honest, sometimes the idea of these crazy foods turns out to be a lot better than the way they actually taste. [googlead]So when I came across this recipe for deep-fried peanut butter (yes, deep-fried peanut butter), I couldn’t help but be a bit skeptical. Yes, it sounds really, really, ridiculously delicious… but is it? Well folks, being the trooper that I am, I gave it a go. After trying it, here’s my humble advice: DO IT… DO IT NOW.

Here’s what you’ll need: Pillsbury Crescent Rounds, peanut butter, canola oil, and powdered sugar.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and put balls of peanut butter (about a rounded tablespoon each) on it. Now put the tray in the freezer to freeze the peanut butter balls. Once they’re frozen, roll out the dough and make 2″ rounds (you should get about 15).

Place a frozen peanut butter ball in the centre of each of the dough rounds and then wrap them up!

Heat up a pot of oil to 350°F. While that’s happening, keep the wrapped up balls in the freezer. Once the oil is ready, begin frying the balls, a couple at a time (if you put too many in at once, the oil will lose too much heat). Fry them until they’re golden brown all around.

Remove them from the oil, and place them on a dish lined with paper towel. Dust them with some powdered sugar. And voila! Deep fried peanut butter balls!
