Lying? What someone is rocking in their pants is no one's business but the person getting in those pants. Gender is a social construct and means different things in different countries, period. Matt feels he fits the make gender here, so his gender is male. He may need to still see a doctor that specializes in female biological concerns but that has nothing to do with how one chooses to identify or present their gender. Since no one in the family was going to be getting in Matt's pants except the person who already knew, this literally was none of their business.
