NTJ OP. You have to do what's best for you and your family. You don't owe anything to anyone else and those saying you're the jerk are either commies or don't understand how life or the property market works. They also missed the part where the bank withdrew the couple's morgage, which tells them all they need to know.

Tell us you don't know how the property market works without telling us. You also missed the part where the bank withdrew the other couple's morgage. There is no 'pulling out at the last minute'. A seller can accept multiple offers. A deal isn't done until it goes through. Buyers also pull out. Any sane person is going to accept the highest offer for their property and do their best for their own family's financial security. Grow up, commie. No one owes anyone their property.
