Nyj for having feelings. And not wanting your stepmother to replace your mom. BUT your little sister is still your SISTER. You're doing both yourself and her a disservice not even trying to get close to her. It's not her fault you lost your mom or siblings. It's not her fault she's alive and related to you. But it's absolutely your fault if you don't even try to have a relationship with her.

I read YA books all the time and am in my 40s. Went would I want to read more "adult" books that are mostly just depressing and stupid? There's no book you can't read if you enjoy it.
Ntj for saying that you won't look after him. She's been overstepping her bounds by assuming you'd do it without her asking. However, suggesting to any parent to put their kid in a group home is bound to set off a very negative reaction. Personally, I'd go ballistic on anyone who did so. (I have a 20 year old autistic son.) We used to live next door to one, my husband worked with the mentally disabled in a similar setting, and seeing the behind the scenes stuff has convinced us to never ever do that to him.
