If your wife is from the area, she had to have known about the Mormons. She should have known about the wine thing. I don’t think OP is the jerk here; how could he have known? But wife must have known given her history in SLC. If damage was done, it was done by the wife.

Talk to her about her feelings. OP said she doesn’t like making friends. Does seeing OP with lots of friends make her jealous? Does it make her feel OP won’t have time for her? Does she feel she’ll be judged for having so few people on “her side”? Does she feel anxious about large gatherings? If OP has a large social circle and bride does not, this could always be an issue so it’s something that should be figured out now, before the wedding.
WTH?!? My 18yo picked up my 13 yo all last year. If some parent had done this to my 18yo, she would have been flustered due to her severe anxiety (something we’re working on, but that can be very difficult some days). Pick up spots are clearly labeled. You can assume people are where they are supposed to be and mind your own business.
Where are the adults in this situation? I think OP realizes she did wrong. She was violating sister’s touch boundaries. But sister was violating cat’s touch boundaries. Why was it left to OP, a child, to address this issue? Why didn’t the parents step to tell the sister that she needed to leave the cat alone??
