Singer Who Is Blind With Autism Earns The Golden Buzzer On America’s Got Talent

It’s inspiring to see people reaching out for their dreams in such a way that also inspires others to do the same.

Meet Lavender

Lavender Darcangelo, an incredible singer with autism and a condition of blindness, is the latest earner of the golden buzzer at America’s Got Talent after Murmuration, Chioma & The Atlanta Drum Academy, Putri Ariani, and Mzansi Youth Choir.

Her Companion

During her quick interview with the judges, her adoptive father assisted her to the stage and stayed with her as she tells her story.

Little Singer

She shared that she’s been singing since she was 3 years old and wasn’t able to talk yet.

Her Dream

When asked what her dream is, she said she wants to build a school where “classes are based (on) what kids are naturally curious at. A school I would have thrived in.”

Her Dads

Before proceeding to her performance, Lavender introduced her adoptive dad, Will, whom she met at an after-school music program. Eventually, as their bond grew deeper, Lavender ask him and his husband to adopt her, and they officially did after a few years.

Magical Performance

Eventually, Lavender was asked to start her performance. She sang “Out Here On My Own” and it was magical.

Everyone Loved Her

By the end of her performance, everyone was on their feet as they applauded Lavender. Judge Howie Mandel had to inform her that everyone in the room was giving her a standing ovation.

They Were Moved

The judges uttered nothing else but praises to her outstanding performance. Judge Sofia Vergara admitted that she forgot she was judging because she was just enjoying her voice the whole time.

“Let’s Do This”

After everyone has given their comments, Judge Heidi Klum concluded it by shouting “Let’s do this!” while pressing the golden button. She even made her way toward the stage to celebrate with Lavender and her dads.
